After the inaugural event in 2022 in Wrocław, this year the science communities of LowerSilesia 🇵🇱 & Saxony 🇩🇪 are meeting in Dresden to identify new options for cooperation.
On the first day of the conference, organized by the HZDR Institute Center for Advanced Systems Understanding (CASUS) at HZDR, the focus was in the morning on AI & Simulation, Big Data & Analytics. Following the Welcome Address by Prof. Sebastian M. Schmidt, Scientific Director at HZDR, the lecture by Mariusz Ptak from Politechnika Wrocławska discussed numerical models of the human brain and the development of Machine Learning algorithms for analyzing weather conditions to predict cerebrovascular accidents. The second conference section was on Sustainability and Circular Economy. The invited speaker, Anna Potysz from the Uniwersytet Wrocławski, highlighted the scientific aspects of a circular economy in her lecture and provided insights into the management of secondary resources, such as industrial waste in the metallurgical sector.
Other speakers included Krzysztof Graczyk, Sebastian Makuch, Michael Bussmann, Artur Yakimovich, Bartosz Brzoza, Ricardo Martinez Garcia, Milad Eftekhari, Nora Schönberger, Ashak Mahmud Parvez, Mateusz Kruszelnicki, Krzysztof Jan Legawiec.
The evening concluded with a „Walk & Talk“ in Dresden and a conference dinner.
We would like to thank all the speakers for the exciting presentations and the inspiring discussions and look forward to the second day of the conference. So much interest and creativity - there's definitely something in the air
