- The Magic of Disney Animation, a remarkable self-guided tour through a real animation studio. Go 'Back to Neverland' for a hysterically funny look at the animation process.
A 'new' lost boy from Peter Pan gives guests a hilarious lesson in animation basics at the beginning of the Animation Tour, Disney-MGM Studios, opened on May 1, 1989, and closed on September 30, 2003. Stars Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams.
November 26, 1994.
until now I realize the outfit the Genie was wearing at the end of the movie was inspired in this little skit... the goofy hat, the hawaiian shirt, the camera... Robin actually parodied himself there XD
Takeru Minamoto FINALLY SOMEONE NOTICES
It's the other way around, Aladdin came out in 1992
You're probably more right than you think. Robin Williams was given a lot of freedom to improvise when he played the Genie, and in addition to the scripted lines he added a lot of things. Ron Clements and John Musker have gone on record that the crew who worked on Aladdin loved so much of his improvised lines that it was difficult to choose which ones to put in the film and which to leave out. And I suspect this was their intention all along, considering they designed the role with Robin in mind and ultimately persuaded him to take it by animating the Genie with voiceover from one of Robin's comedy albums.
To think that Disney remembered Robin's Neverland character and brought him back in "Once Upon a Studio", and he makes a cameo just before Genie's grand appearance. Robin Williams was a big cartoon character that knew that everyone needed to laugh and be happy...because he knew that they were sad on the inside, like he was. He is always missed, no matter what.
Looks like to me that Robin Williams is trying to audition for his Genie role for Aladdin.
Almost from Hook!
7:01 Out of context, the "game show" bit is hilarious all in itself. Robin Williams would have been an awesome game show host! 🥰🤩
God bless Robin Williams
That’s makes me laugh crocodile chase Captain Hook
I knew Robin was in Neverland!
Thank you for posting...
Thank you for believing.
If Robin Williams' favorite Disney movie was Peter Pan, that totally explains him getting the role in Hook! Even in the original Jumanji, they do the Captain Hook tradition where the actor playing Van Pelt is the same actor playing his father.
R.I.P Robin Williams 1951-2014
and Walter Cronkite 1916-2009
Thanks for sharing this, never take it down. We won't be able to see it anywhere else! You're amazing!
Thanks, you're welcome, glad you like it that much!
Never crossed my mind to take it down, put a lot work into it to get it here...
This used to be me and my brother's favorite show at Disney when we were kids.
This brought back SO many memories. My first year with TWDC was in '92, and every time I visited Disney's Hollywood Studios, I did the animation tour...mostly to see this video. Thank you SO much for posting it.
Robin is so hilarious that he made the sound guys in the booth laugh so hard that you can hear them in the background when he makes a joke
As if Robin Williams needed Disney to be an animated character. LOVED THIS!
He was a great Genie

7:23 "Times up, It's a crocadile! Come on down!"🤣
Robin's lost boy form appeared in "Once Upon A Studio"!
I was about 4 at the time, but I still remember that after fading to black, animated Robin pops back on & teases the audience to race him over to the next section of the tour.
I like Back To Neverland with the late great Robin Williams
I haven’t seen this since 1994. One of my favorite parts of DisneyWorld.
They never should've shut this down. Anyone who's ever seen it would want this to be the first original Studios attraction brought back!
When Disney HAD Magic!!
It's nice to see what I hear on Magical Mouse Radio from time to time. Thank you. :)
I feel like that old man who robin williams called walt he looked like a older version of walt disney if he was still alive
Thank you so much for posting this. RIP Robin
Robin sure lived a full life
I wish they'd made this into a full cartoon/film.
HotWax93 I agree, this would be a GREAT idea for a Disney movie!
I could just picture it now; a struggling animator, who comes into possession of magical pen (once owned by Walt Disney himself) which opens a doorway that leads to an animated universe. There, he changes into an animated character and interacts with the many wonderful Disney characters. But suddenly, the magical pen is stolen by the Disney Villains, who plan to use it to escape into our REAL world. Now, the animator, and his new friends, need to work together to steal the pen back and defeat the villains!
Lucas Clement You sir. I LOVE THAT IDEA Mind if i Write it and make a script on it.
@@knottyorchid1212 If you want to.
I can't guarantee it will be a success.
@@lucasclement9368 My only problem is that its a real shame Robin couldn't star in it cause of his death. So I have to think who would be fitting to play the animator?
@@knottyorchid1212 Focus on writing the story/script and making it work First.
Find a studio that will love and accept the script second.
THEN figure out who should play who.
I remember this short film, it was a good show and it was cute back then, it's still cute now, thanks for the video.
Peter Pan is my favorite Disney movie of all time.
You know, the way Robin is drawn reminds me of Danny from Cats Don’t Dance. Skip 8 years later.
RIP Robin Williams
vgiannell5 also RIP to Walter Cronkite
This short had two versions
One of the best Disney eras❤. I wish I live enough to see the studios be great again and stop being a joke 😢
Absolutely priceless
I find it hilarious that Robin played Peter Pan in another movie
RIP both Walter Cronkite and Robin Williams
7:21-7:26 LMFAO!!! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Genie I'm going to miss you😢😢😢
Thanks you
Thank you so much.
You're very welcome.
But.... But Robin Williams DID go to Neverland.
Walter Cronkite is the voice of Captain Neweyes.
Did anyone know that this came out four mouths later after my brother and I were born in January 1989?
You're a twin?
