Wow! Buddy using match grip for most, if not all, of the second tune. A rare occurrence for sure.

@Drummer J.L.H. Yes, when soloing on the floor toms and lead-ins to a tune, such as Channel 1 Suite. Notice, however, that as soon as Dorsey's band comes in, he switches back to traditional/standard grip. In this case, he played the entire tune using matched grip. There's a clip on CZcams of Buddy soloing to Caravan with Harry James. He starts that solo off matched grip, but then switches shortly thereafter and then finishes with matched grip on the floor toms and his right crash cymbal.

@Drummer J.L.H. Just what most drummers of that era were doing. The hi-hat was kept lower than in later years, but not as high as most rock drummers kept theirs.

That amount raised must've been something back in '76, even surprising Jerry himself.
This must've been recorded past midnight, according to the time on the clock.

What's really rare here is the loose band concept in the 2nd number. That, and the House of David big band beards!

Apparently didn't like bass drum anchors. Instead, nails or, like here, sandbags! I wonder why...Did he think they affected the sound of the BD somehow? Dazzling playing, Cathy, Dean Pratt, & Bob Mintzer!

The hard floor is no friend of bass spurs. Bags keep the bass drum from drifting. Joe Morello had that problem, don't know why he (Joe) didn't just use a carpet.
