Its hard to believe now that there was doubt and attitudes when Barry Gordy pulled Diana ahead of Flo Ballard to be the lead of the Supremes. Flo was considered the powerful soul singer and Diana was widely considered the weakest singer, with a thin, nasal voice. People thought he was nuts and Flo was devastated. But he was right. He wanted cross-over appeal. Flo was great for R &B, but he had a bigger vision. He bet on the right one. So beautiful, classy with an ethereal voice. Who wouldnt fall in love with this woman?? ❤️

It's crazy how Diana's voice kept on evolving and just kept on getting even better as she grew older when it's the opposite for majority of the singers even the great ones as their voice would decline as they grow older!
