It's worth noting that in the next 10-20 years, the "boomer" generation will inevitably need assisted living services. This generation is almost twice the size of the current assisted living population, with an estimated 70 million people. That means twice the number of individuals will require medical support and accommodation in assisted living facilities in just one generation alone. It is unclear how the big picture affects Occupational Therapy Assistants, as some insurance companies are reducing referrals and funding. For example, Medicaid has reduced payment for physician services under the fee schedule. But the need is definitely there!
