I can't remember the last time I saw a team get scored on an empty net, and then come back and win the game.... incredible!
It’s only happened five times in the last 40 years.
@@dathaniel9403 It’s actually only ever happened once before… by the Sharks 3 years ago! The other 4 scenarios were delayed penalty own goal empty nets.
That is usually the dagger......they just didn't give up.....great comeback for the Canes
Washington did this couple years ago. Fans start to left building when W let empty netter and lose 2, but they come back and win eventually!
There were a lot of Canes fans crying as they drove home. The ones crying are the ones who left after it was 4 to 2 :)
*I remember thinking after the EN goal, "Whelp! Looks like there won't be a Storm Surge in Carolina tonight!" I was wrong on so many levels! That comeback was unreal on so many levels! Also, this is why Necas is in the All-Star Game. San Jose did play a competitive game, which was more than I expected coming into this game. Also, liked when Reimer checked on Kotkaniemi after he was hit in the face by the puck.*
Guaranteed a bunch of fans missed it because they left early…
But Necas is not in the All-Star game.. sadly

Even if it is the regular season this must have been one heck of a memorable experience for the Canes fans at the arena.
I was at a minor league game tonight and couldn't watch this one. I got the notification that the Sharks scored the ENG and I thought it was over. I should know by now that, with this team, it's not over until it's over. I was content with the one point, but getting that second point is always nice
Also Necas is a literal cheat code in 3v3
I was at the game and i was ready to go home after the ENG. Glad I stayed. The roof was blown off at the end of the game there. Wild stuff.
Shout out to the Hurricanes fans at that game who stuck around after San Jose's EN goal.

What a game. Second time this year Carolina has come back to tie a game down multiple goals in the dying seconds of a game. First time they couldn't take care of business and lost in OT but this time we got the dub. Always remember it aint over til its over.
After the 2-1 goal the Canes had a lot of chances to kill the game. I must admit I got really frustrated when they didn't and the sharks got the lead. Felt like the Canes were unable to score a goal once again. But what an ending 🤣 Aho finding his groove is so important for this team, dude has 6 goals in his last 3 games.

The exact same thing happened in 2020 when the sharks played the capitals. Pretty sure these are the only 2 instances in NHL history of a team losing after scoring an empty net goal.

Боже ж ты мой и опять акулы упускают победу на последних сек ведя в две шайбы...поменяв кипера на шестого и отыграть при этом две шайбы это очень редкое явление раз ну два за сезон,но это явление почему-то происходит с акулами причём третий сезон подряд(в позапрошлом так вашики отыгрались)...так главное ещё и овертайм проигрывают при этом...наверное лучше за Баффало болеть чем за этих неудачников...какие то акулы беззубые!
Концовку выдали ураганную. Кипер у Акул сегодня не в настроении.
I still really like Reimer. He was outstanding when he was here. I think he got a shutout one night and Abby was interviewing him on the bench after the game and the crowd was just chanting his name over and over. He had the biggest grin on his face. Never forget it. Hate he had to take the loss but glad the Canes won.

I saw the empty net goal and was ready to click off the video until I saw how much time was left in it
Wow! Play a solid road game make the game 4-2 with the empty netter and then blow it in the last two minutes to lose in overtime 5-4. Where have I seen this? A couple years ago against Washington in January again? Well for my sharks I’m not even surprised.
Don’t feel too bad, the Sharks played a great game and the Canes are really difficult to play against. Holding them to two goals until the last 90 seconds of the game (and both of those were 6v5) is admirable. Tough loss but at least you got a point out of it.
It happens ☹....I was at the Canes vs Canucks game a couple of weeks ago and we were up by 1 and the Canucks scored with a few seconds left.....then they beat us in an overtime shootout

I am so happy for Nečas...I saw him many times playing for my home city and in that time (5 years ago) we hoped he will be a star in NHL because of his big talent...and now he is..btw: in my opinion the 3rd Canes' goal was big failure of Reimer
