Hey Dana,
Awesome Video! Thank you! 😊
Quick hunting tip if you're interested?
I freeze water bottles before leaving on a trip. Keep them in my insulated game bag in the pack. I Field dress the game immediately after harvest. This helps cool the carcass faster. Then I put a frozen water bottle in the carcass, in the game bag, then pack it... The frozen water bottles stay frozen a long time, don't get everything wet and as they melt throughout the trip, provide cold drinking water! 😅😊
My favorite Air rifle under 300$. Literally can't beat this deal. Ultimate survival rifle for SHTF.
The sport is opened up to so many more people thanks to offerings like this combo. Excellent presentation of what it takes to own and use such a gun out in the country. Adding the pump to the gun is outstanding. I consider my hand pump a necessity in case of power outages and and and. As always, the "life" and tips how to live outside are so good... absent for so many people is any knowledge for what it takes to get out there.
Well put and 100% correct, in my opinion, as well.
1st shot 92 yards!!!!!!
$350.00 including the pump.
That pretty much said it all.
I love the new cost effective excellent PCPs. This gives a beginner an excellent, accurate, reliable rifle and a way to fill it. I can see not including the scope. Alot of people already have a scope, or can decide on the scope that they need. I also dont need a regulator. Any PCP is way more accurate than a break barrel and you don't need to hold it correctly for excellent accuracy.
The fact that it has a 2 magazine's and a side lever, only sweetens the pot.
Thanks brother for your excellent video.
God bless you and your family. 🎯🎯🎯
Totally agree with you !!!! That's pretty darn good. Sure, we'd all love to own an Air Arms or FX, but how can you complain ? I own TWO Umarex Gauntlets and they are both dead accurate, quiet, and FUN.
Thanks Heath, the gun isn't for everyone but you know how I feel about simplistic and durable. Some people want to tinker and others want to just go out and hunt. Hope you and the family are healthy and safe into the holidays! Cheers
17:20 Wow, you know how to live in style. That is the life.
Sunday morning here in the UK as I watch this, and I can not think of a better way to enjoy my start to the day.
Thanks Dana.
Thank you Henry, always enjoy hearing from you! Cheers to you sir
I like that they have a cover over the fill port. It's crazy that most high end guns don't have that feature.
@@animalcub5292 Long term real world use test.
@@animalcub5292 Well, for $350 bucks for the combo it's worth the risk.
That's why I don't like to review guns out of the box, have to use it for awhile before a full review.
The smooth side lever is amazing to. Slides frictionless for reloading
Its a cheap little flimsy cover but they did put something over it to protect from dust. Whatnot. & its been 3 years now & i still have my cover & in very good shape , it does serve the purpose well
Thanks Dana! Great video as always! I have watched reviews of the Umarex Origin and I am very impressed! For viewers that don't know, 120 pumps are relatively few!... Other similar guns will require at least twice (even up to 3 times) as many pumps to fill!!!... This is because the Origin has a variable volume tank... There is a piston in the tank that compresses while you fill the tank. While shooting, as the pressure in the tank drops, this piston moves forward... This basically decreases the volume of the tank all the time, which keeps up the pressure in the tank. This new technology is a first that is currently found only in the Origin.
The Ever Pressure Tank system definitely helps improve the pumping. I've seen this before in some of the older hybrid pumper prototypes from the late 90's
@@MountainSportAirguns Thanks Dana! Fortunately for us as airgun hunters, the technological advances in airguns are huge!!! We can just imagine what will be available within the next few years! I love Marley, and your adventures/videos would be incomplete without her! My 2 Ridgebacks would love to spend time with you in the veld/bush!!! Thanks for your great videos, I watch them over and over!
Yes it is & does. What a regulator would do mostly... with out a built in regulator . Which would make it cost more , i love it the way it is very powerful & very dependable for. 3 years now !
Love your pup , she's a great helper !
I just bought an UMAREX Origin. I am very happy with my purchase. The Mountain Sport review was very good as well.
Dang Dana! 92 yards offhand! That was a Hell of a shot! That Origin looks like the perfect .22! I think I'm going to get one in the future. Great video Man! Just ordered one of your Woodland Camo Booney Hats.
Thanks Robert, I really appreciate the support and your email went into the pot.
My friend, what a pleasure to watch. Discovery channel level production. All it was missing is that old English guy narrating every now and then.
Nah you need Mike Rowe to narrate. Now we’re talking.
I like the simplicity of the gun and the fact that you dropped that jack rabbit at 92 yards with a pellet says alot about the gun. Thank you for using it today and showing that it can take small game as always I totally enjoy your videos
Thanks Donald, we had a great few days filming this one.
Great adventure video🙌😊..bought the Origin yesterday, waiting for it to be delivered 🎉🙂
How is the airgun running after a year?
@@metaphoricallyspeaking8987 it’s still shooting great!..and i bought the yong Heng compressor and it’s working great too, charging the gun up only takes 5 seconds 😀
I just got myself one and I am loving it so far. Shoots the 18gr Crow Magnum and the Baracuda Hunter Extreme like a champ. Great video man.
Thanks for taking us with you.
You bet!
Beautifully produced, thoughtfully executed. I Subscribed!
Much appreciated!
I love your videos there awesome! Marley is a great companion to keep you company and help you out with your hunts. We don’t have the big open spaces that are accessible here but there are a few friendly farmers that let you do pest control. I was looking at your store a for a hat like you have in your video but there doesn’t seem to be any at present. I used to shoot Olympic air rifle but due to a spinal condition I’m trying to get into bench shooting with an FX dream line and now a impact we are limited to sub 12ftlbs here unless you have an fac cert. Well keep the videos coming Dana they are great to watch!
Thanks for the support, I gave up selling merchandise due to the upfront cost to produce it. Cheers
Your a REAL man,, thanks for the video,,, Loved it,,,
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks 👍
Great video thanks. I love your dog!
Hi Dana, great Review and beautiful scenery as always, and Marley always present, Umarex for the price is very well, good shots, health friend.PT
Great video and great shooting. Always enjoy seeing Marley and the mountains.
Thanks David
Nice shot Dana, thanks for the entertaining catch, clean and cook video with Marley.
Thankyou for checking it out, we had a great time.
Jack and coffee yum:)
Well made video. Good job!
excellent video. Really covered all the little details that most miss. Showing the fill port. Showing the shot. Showing the walks to and from camp. Discussing pros and cons while in the field on camera - just great. Liked and subscribed!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed
nice job dana ! really enjoy your camps
Glad you like them, thank you Gil
Good video man. I enjoyed the scenery , that brush & bush was thick & thin in spots but still gives rabbits cover , enough where yu have to look for them intensly . But yu got dinner for tonite !! 1 shot & down. from umarex again !! Cant beat umarex ! I got 3 umarex rifles & their all good to go !
Great job i can always use a spare pump. Love it.
Right on
Good shot on that Jack. Great presentation on the rifle and gear. Marley is a great dog. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out Billy, yes she's a fantastic little dog.
Great video Dana. Excellent shooting!!!

I grew up in the city. Not an outdoors type of guy BUT I liked this video. It was interesting and well produced. Thanks.
Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Cheers
I just love spending time in the outdoors and your review was simply awesome! Keep hunting and say hi to mbf Marley.
Great video!
Thanks for the visit
I love the channel. I even brewed coffee in my percolator while watching to feel more like I was there 😁 Making me excited to collaborate with you!
Thanks for checking it out Tay, just let me know when you're able to get down for a few days.
Great camera footage.Good video quality.Nice shot,btw! Thanks for sharing,bud.
Much appreciated!
Nice vid. Thank you. Be safe Enjoy
Thanks
That was fun 😎, plus 92 yards!!! Excellent shot!
It would be fun to do a comparison of this against the stock Gauntlet.
I think the Gauntlet would be a bit harder to fill with a handpump, If I had one I would compare the two.
MountainSport Airguns it sucks with a hand pump 😆; if you google how many pumps to fill a Gauntlet, you’ll see yours truly just hacking through it haha
Thst looked great
decent rifle and what a shot that was on the rabbit dana ! keep the videos coming through winter and another lockdown here in scotland to keep me us all positive please
Thanks for watching and for the comment, hopefully things will be better soon.
That's a really good dog!
Great outdoor video!
Thank you very much!
I just ordered the Origin so it looks like I will be happy with it....92 yards, wow!!!!
Good post
Thanks for the vid 👍, always good to see your days out and of course your furry baby 😃
350 dollars is so good but over here "Ireland" probably cost so much more ,
Would be a perfect gun as I'm so ruff with my gear ,
Thanks again and keep em coming 👍
Thanks Steve, yeah I have no idea what the cost would be in Ireland. The stock seems to be really tough, I'm the same way with my gear.
Great vid. Looks like a nice rifle.
Thanks, definitely enjoyed it.
Now knowing that this gun is made by Nova Vista...yeah this is going to be an accurate hit! Great advise on the pump. This will hopefully stop some shooters from “burning out” their pump. God bless. Tortoise and the hare kinda thing. 30 pumps...take a few minutes break...30 more...take another break till done. Awesome video with great information. Thank you.
Good video Dana nice rifle Umarex has some good prices
🤠 Really Like yer Videos Man! I Love Marley!👊🏻🤠
Thanks for coming along, we have a great time together. More of these videos coming soon. Cheers
Buen video saludos desde Chile
👏👏👏👏👍your videos are very good.
Thank you! 😃
Marley is a lucky dog. Great video. Been trying to decide .22 or .25 cal. But that origin package is tempting.
Thanks for watching, .22 is a great all around caliber and very capable. I actually prefer using .22 for the majority of my hunting, bit cheaper to shoot as well.
Hunting with your buddy doesn't get better.
Great review. Waiting patiently foe your review of the 2020 Huben K1 in 25 cal.
Thanks, I won't be reviewing that gun as Huben doesn't know how to return emails.
Great review on this pcp gonna be my choice also .. new sub
Thanks for the sub!
Welcome
What a nice place to hunt! as for the new Umarex origin, at first glance, it’s just a better choice than the Seneca aspen, which has so many negative reviews! are you going to test it again on chrony? same pellet, full charge 10-20 shots @ 25-50yds that should be good!
Thanks for checking it out! I do most all my reviews after I have had a rifle for awhile, plenty of bench reviews out already. If Umarex wants to sponsor a full review of it that would make things go faster.
A very good video. Is that Cleveland NF? Beautiful countryside and a great shot on that Jack.
Thanks, no it's not Cleveland NF. This is much higher elevation.
Great video, Dana! I just watched it again after owning the Origin for a couple of weeks. I had watched it previously months ago while trying to decide what I needed to replace my Ruger/Umarex Impact Max Elite 22 break barrel. That rifle was quite powerful and accurate for my purposes of dealing with back yard and property damaging pests, except for 1 thing: the trigger pull weight was not adjustable and was so heavy that it was very difficult for me to hold the cross hairs still while trying to pull the trigger. So, despite my bad experience with that one model, I reluctantly went with another Umarex after watching many reviews, including this one from you. And it has really been great so far, including an excellent trigger and even more accurate and powerful than the break barrel. .................................... But I have one question for you: was your spectacular 92 yd shot a head shot, or body? Either way it was VERY impressive! All of my experience with either of my air rifles has been with squirrels at less than 30 yd, and it seems that (with either Crossman 14.3 Piranhas or even JSB 15.89 Hades) only head shots guarantee that they go down without making it to somewhere that I can not retrieve them.......................... But to see that Jack rabbit go down and not escape to a hiding place, with one 92 yard shot, would be even more impressive, if it was a body shot. OTOH, if you made a head shot at 92 yd, then it is YOU who is extra impressive! .............................. Anyway, thanks for the great review!
Thanks, it was a headshot. I like the Origin over the Gauntlet2 ten folds, it's a neat gun for the price.
You’ve much better eyes than me!
120 pumps is not bad !!! My Umarex Gauntlet takes at least double that to get filled.
It's a small reservoir so doesn't take much to fill.
Good video dude. There’s a PCP gun wow forgot what it’s called oh the aspen it has a hand pump built in and comes in .177-22-25 calibers and is in the 400$ mark has about equal velocity and shot count. But I admit that gun you have is a great looking air rifle some are a bit out there..
The Aspen is a great rifle, unfortunately people don't follow directions and the pump fails.
Nice! I have a hand pump for my Airforce Texan 457. Only about 14 shots per fill though.
Using a handpump for a big bore isn't fun
@@MountainSportAirguns it's a ton of work but part of the fun. Lol. Saving up for a compressor
Your Awesome Dude and i love your DOG!
Thanks!!
I got bored watching TV, was searching CZcams, and found your video, I really felt like I was out there with you two. Where can I order the gear(hat)? Thanks for the trip...
Hey thanks, appreciate you checking it out. We had a great time making this one. You can visit our shop page at mountainsportairguns.com for gear. Cheers
Thanks man. I appreciate the review. I just got this gun for my birthday and have yet to shoot it as it’s still snowing here. Can you tell me what scope you have and where can I find the air tank you mentioned in the video? Thanks again.
Thanks, I was using a Hawke Vantage 3-12x44 SF and all my bottles are from Airguns Of Arizona
Excellent Video, The Umarex Checks all the Boxes for me, as i like a Lightweight but durable robust gun, that will last a LONG TIME for many Years. You said 40 useable shots per fill may last a week, Did you have any Problems with air Leak down, as i have had two fortitude gen.2 that leaked 1000psi air in less than a week, so my fortitude would Not work as i would have to keep putting air in before i shoot it. A Two week leak down test fill to max psi and let it sit for two weeks then take another pressure check to see if any leak down occurs.
It's held air for a month, not concerned about that as I'm able to make repairs myself in the field.
This gun minus the stock reminds me of the Avenger. I have to wonder if this gun originated in Macau China if you get my drift. This looks a whole lot like Nova Vista had something to do with this design. That would be a good thing to be fair. The Avenger is a full on monster in .25. I do like the stock on the Umarex. Not that crazy about the rest of the gun. Not nearly as adjustable as the Avenger. This gun would be good for someone’s first pcp that doesn’t have compressors and tanks.
Personally I would take this over the Avenger, that stock just killed it for me. For the type of hunting trips I do where I'm gone for a week or so a 300bar fill just isn't realistic and I don't need .25 caliber. Bigger pellets=more air if you know what I mean. I like to get out and hunt, not sit and tinker.
Hey Heath, you haven’t yet, listen to my Podcast Episode with Tyler Patner from Pyramyd Air. We talk about the Avenger and the origin and the design “inspirations”. Interesting stuff but you seem pretty tuned in haha.
@@TheAirgunPodcasthard air did an interesting article on them as well. Unfortunately I didn’t read it till after my first comment. Had no interest in the gun to be honest. Still the facts are cool. Interesting concept.
@D Mo-CO 1975 I'm very familiar with the gun as I had one before they were even available. Unfortunately I wasn't as impressed with it as others.
@@MountainSportAirguns Get the .22 and fill to 250 bar. Adjusting the regulator, up to 70 shots on a full fill of 300
I bought one 😃
We don't have jackrabbit here in Michigan. That meat looks a lot like venison to me.
wow, ur skill is so good!how far is the target you are shooting?
Thanks, 50 yards
looked like a good gun. did you enjoy the meat as much as Marley?
Jackrabbit is always a preferred taste but I enjoy it.
I know people me including would like to see the gun sold on own separate from pump.We have to realize engineers and computer tooling and their is cost to bringing out a new gun and umarex designed this as a package deal so they have to get the investment and profit before they separate.
I think eventually you will see them separate but I think this is a package designed for those who are new and wanting a PCP on a budget. The thought of having to buy a tank or compressor scares some people away.
It could do with a depinger in that air cylinder. I wish manufacturers would do it as standard. The cost is minimal.
Most modern airguns have a regulator, no need for a depinger.
I was looking at the Origin and the Nova Liberty .22. How do you think they compare? This will be my first foray into PCPs.
These are both really similar, the stock on the Origin is much better
One of the things I was not happy with on the origin was the barrel has movement/flex. To me there should have been another barrel band towards the front by the muzzle. I thought maybe I purchased a lemon but i have confirmed with another individual and his barrel moves also. I checked all screws and everything is tight and still there is barrel movement. For the $350 MSRP price tag I would expect better.
I found no flex in the barrel at all, it was the airtube that had some movement, guns not for everyone. I think $350 is completely fair priced for the combo.
@@MountainSportAirguns I may have to correct myself in saying the barrel had movement. 2 other CZcamsrs have confirmed with me that their Origins have the same movement, but one of them had a good point and stated he thinks it's just a barrel shroud moving and not the barrel itself. I was just asking if other Origin owners had the same issue because I did't know if I had a lemon. This is my first PCP rifle and other than the issue above it has been shooting with very nice groups. Thanks for your response and I have subscribed for your reviews and content. Happy shooting
Great video! Any mountain lions or bear around at night if they smell that food?
No
I actually have the exact same model umarex and I was wondering if any kind of pcp hand pump would work and what kinda scope setup do you have and any recommendations on where I can buy them
Any pump should do, I prefer Hill brand. Hawke Vantage isn't a bad choice for scope.
I want to buy this rifle, what pellets do you recommend using
Weights from 16 to 18gr work well at this power. I prefer the Jsb 18gr
Fill probes...😒... Really wish all would just go foster...
But.. This one,and many others,on the pump side, there is a tiny grit filter in the probe.. Are these replaceable,or,do you just have to buy another probe?
P.S. All the sudden i have a urge to watch some solo sailing vids... 😇 ⛵
I feel the same way about probes, they get lost!! You can clean those filters out, Umarex is really good about spare parts thankfully.
Then go with the Air Venturi Avenger, it has a foster fitting
If so,there's to be some other differences... Is the stock on the Umarex as cheap and hollow sounding as the air venturi version
@@wascalywabbit No, the stock is really good... could beat a door down with it.
Ice shot on a gid rabbit!
In your opinion would you use the .22 or the .25 more for hunting purposes
Probably the .25
Take some breaks.
I'm good at that.
Urban or an Origin
Trying to decide
I recommend this rifle, what do you think is for small species, and shoot between 50 or 60 mt what do you think?
It's a great gun for hunting at shorter ranges, has enough power as shown in video.
Can you do a similar video with a gamo coyote?
Sure if Gamo sends one and sponsors a video.
Can you adjust the hammer spring for more power
Yes
I have mine on the way want to make it my slug gun
92 yard off hand quality shooting Dana .do you not worry about bears
Thanks, Bear's aren't a problem in this particular area. The mountain lions are more of a concern.
@@MountainSportAirguns Dana your a legend mountain lions .here in the uk the most dangerous thing is a hedge hog .but only when you have bare feet an you tread on the bugger lol .all the best love your channel keep em coming 👍
Thanks Phil, we've been pretty good about staying clear of the lions. Honestly the biggest concern during the warm months are the rattlesnakes. Really have to be careful where you step and decide to make camp.
Does this rifle have an external power adjuster like the avenger? Do you know if they have it in .25?
No but it's much better made
Yes it has a hammer spring adjustment on the back of the action part. You can tune it down or up for velocity change.
Did you train Marley to retrieve? Or was she just a natural?
She's been trained
Why did you pick this over the Avenger, since it's not regulated ? I know Umerax has a longer warranty.
I had the Avenger, wasn't very impressed at all. Both are plastic overload so either one would be short lived.
@MountainSport Airguns you mean the Avenger being short lived. Or both?
What's the best pellets for longer range around 100 yards
This shoots 18gr jsb pretty well
A 1 litre fill bottle is a far better option for the backpack. Trust me it's heart attack prevention plain and simple. Anyone who has ever owned a PCP knows a pump is a desperation measure. I bought a compressor and both 7 litre and 1 litre bottles. Small compressors are cheap and reliable these days. 7 litre bottle for home storage or range use and the 1 litre is your hunting trip filler.
Obviously you haven't spent long enough in the wilderness to need a hand pump.
Looks like the avenger? Is it the same?
No, has some similarities though.
Same company made it...Nova Vista...they made the Freedom/Seneca Aspen...Liberty/Alpha...Avenger. Wicked cool company out of Macau China. I have 4 of their guns and zero complaints with any of them. In fact 1 of theirs is my fav of all the PCPs I own to be frank. A .22 cal Liberty in wood stock that holds its own with my Crown.
What scope do you have?
A Hawke Vantage as mentioned in the video.
So someone once told me there's a certain time of the year not to eat rabbit, does anyone know if it's bs?
I've heard people say Summer months are not safe for eating them. I've never encountered a problem over 40 years and hunt them from July through January.
@@MountainSportAirguns thanks brother!
That was a big boy....im waiting on mine today
