  • The Odeon Saturday morning picture show song. Another old film found in the old Odeon Plymouth in the early 1960's (where Litttewoods is now) Enjoy

Remember John Lennon singing this at the start of his Andy Peebles BBC interview Dec 6th 1980. Still sing it to myself as I stumble out of bed Saturday Mornings sometimes

My great uncle used to go to the Odeon every Saturday and since the song stoped running he was never able to find the song, until I found this video and showed it to him he was so surprised and happy so thank you!

My best mate and I used to go to the south Norwood odeon. We got barred by the manager for running around but our mums took us back the following week and made us say sorry- after that we were given another chance 🤣👍

He says "GB Club"- that is Gaumont British. Odeon and Gaumont joined up in the 1940s following the death of the Odeon founder, Oscar Deutch.

I always remembered it as.."as members of the Odeon Club we all intend to be, good citizens when we grow up and members of the free...".

@@smarsh599 My memory is not always to be trusted but in my local Odeon I think they showed a film with the words on the bottom of the screen and a " bouncing ball" effect as the tune played.

I remember taking my younger brothers there every Saturday morning. Get the bus into town, run through Woolworths to fill pockets with stolen sweets and then into the Odeon. It wouldn't really work now, because I was only eleven and the others were nine and six! Nowadays kids would be dropped off and picked up by parents in a 4x4. Half of them would probably want to go in! We used to go to the swimming baths unaccompanied three times a week as well and bunk off Sunday school to go on bike rides. I feel sorry for kids today.

Same, exactly the same for me, I could have written this myself. I clearly remember the call out for anyone who had a birthday to come onto the stage as everyone sang happy birthday. Then Livingstone baths, and the long walk home cause we'd spent the bus fare.

I used to frequent Hounslow London Odeon and sing this song but never knew the middle words LOL yep, Woolworths with those miles of sweets on slanting counters but we used to get the A1 bus up to Heathrow airport and use the Ambassador bowling lanes amusement arcade :) chips thruppence on the way back from brownies and girl guides and SOMETIMES a glass of water in the off license LOL Times a changing for sure
