    Once, I allowed city employees to park their equipment overnight on my property, while their where doing street paving, few days , and at the end they fix the entrance and a stripe of asphalt. Was a good deal.

    My dad used to work on the county road crew and they would use any left over material and offer to use it on the driveways nearby at no charge as long as they signed a waiver just in case somebody tried to sue them.most everybody was grateful

    It's like Receiving Stolen Goods. If you buy something really cheap, they see you knew it was stolen. $200 for that paving job is like buying $500 iphone for $50 bucks or less. He knew everything.

      I used to work for the city. Would have taken about a minute to mow a front lawn. Still not worth potentially losing one's job over. In a small town though perhaps this wouldn't be as big a deal if all the tax payers collectively agreed on it.

    I’ve caught a city employee “borrowing” a riding lawn mower to cut his and the neighbors grass. He also took and used a heavy machine to replace a light on a utility pole beside his own garage but never replaced the ones alongside of other homes and streets. I also saw him using it to cut down a tree across the street from him on a Sunday when it shouldn’t even be used, it’s his day off. That equipment is not paid for to do private jobs at their own homes.

    Idk what the case is here but I know when they were paving the main road were I live, a mom and pop gas station let them park the equipment there so they repaved a few spots in return for them.

    I was a paving contractor, it was hard enough making a living. There are only a handful of legitimate contractors that had licenses, equipment and did the right job. We had to compete with the fly-by-night contractors and now you have to compete against city employees that don't own a single rake....Shame on you.

    The first problem is thinking you could get your drive way paved for $200! Who could possibly think that's realistic ? in this case he got what he paid for! There is other investigated reporting where people have paved several thousand dollars that had a worse quality done driveway then what he did received that's a rip off because they actually paid real money for a paved driveway!

    Many years ago, My Father was in the process of building a Double Garage. We owned a corner block and the Garage abutted onto the side street. One day Father was approached by a Council Worker advising him that they had some Concrete left over from their job around the corner and were willing to dump it , for free, into the form work of the Floor of Our Double Garage, which My Father had yet to pour. My Father accepted and within Minutes he had a 6 Man Work Crew pouring, screeing and levelling enough Concrete to Cover the entire Floor and the short Apron from the Garage Door to the Council Footpath which ran alongside of the side Street. As it turned out that became the best Garage Floor My Father ever had (& the cheapest).
