I'm exhausted just listening to you describe your busy life ;-) The 800mm really provided some great opportunities. I love backlit images. Thanks!

I wish I could relax, but my brain won’t let me! Luckily I ‘found’ photography when I did, it certainly keeps me occupied!

Have. a similar ritual about getting out with the gear and likewise I do like to plan as much as I can. I have google maps populated with locations and notes and if I pick up any info from other posts or videos etc, I can add that in too and will write up some brief notes afterwards as its always handy to refer back if you are returning or if someone asks a question about it. The 800mm certainly made a difference Ben and hopefully your mother has awarded you a 1st place for at least one of those images 🙂

Cheers Jim, I assume that other photographers have a system, and when I see/here how others do it there are always a few nuggets of wisdom that you can borrow from one another. Having a long list of photography ideas, for all weather occasions, has always been good for my motivation. If its overcast I will shoot some macro, epic conditions go out and shoot landscapes etc. I am still waiting on the awards from my mum, but luckily the second visit yielded some better results!

Nigel’s lens is certainly the right tool for it. Thanks for the loan, and sorry you didn’t get to use it on the day. A return for rutting season should be on the cards.

Lovely video Ben, love your deer photos, I must say that I found your planning and strategy for removing all the excuses super helpful, as ever thank you mate 😊

Thanks Greg, I hope that you found something that you can apply to your life/photography in the video. I am pretty happy with the deer photos, but it was my first time photographing them with a proper lens, a revisit is on the cards during rutting season.

Beautiful images ben, again. Most impressed with your early morning adventures and as a night person myself, I hate early wake-up’s but wish i could get up early once in while for time spent like this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Victor, I used to be a night-person, especially when i was at university favouring to work late into the night and start late but I trained myself to have a regular sleeping pattern with an early start and now my body doesn’t think of it as early, its just the time that I wake up. Once you get on a regular schedule it is amazing how even the one hour clock change messes with your sleep pattern.

Well, Ben, you and I have something in common. Not the amount and quality of camera gear one of us has; not the quality of the photos one of us produces; not even the CZcams channel one of us has.
It's the fact that getting out early in the morning (after preparing everything the night before) is definitely the best way to enjoy the hobby (or profession) of photography.
Oh, actually there is another common thing - I was born in Sussex (East Wittering) before coming to Australia as a six-year-old in the mid Fifties. 🙂
Thanks and cheers from DownUnder 🦘

Thanks for leaving the comment Rob, and I hope that my videos of the local area bring back happy memories from your childhood. Adding to what you mentioned about sunrise, I rarely go out at sunset purely because of how much I have the place to myself! There is also a different quality of light at sunrise to sunset, the meteorologist say that the atmosphere is clearer because the cars haven’t filled up the air with smog in the morning.

You may also like Knole Park, Sevenoaks for easy deer shots. I don't know what time the NT car park opens, but you can park on St. Julian Rd just after the gate which will probably allow you to walk around the park earlier.
