Testing Out The Best Big Swimbait Travel Rods On Lake Biwa Japan?!

- Traveling is something that has seemed daunting for fishermen with the fear and hassle of carrying around big 7'-8'6" rods. One of the biggest work arounds to that is using multi piece rods that leave a much smaller foot print. For a while, it was hard to find a good multi piece travel rod for guys that wanted to fish big baits and chase really big fish. That's where the Megabass Valkyrie World Expedition rods come into play. For the past couple of years, I have traveled effortlessely with these rods to fish for bass, pike and even muskie. Today, I talk about two of the models and what I like to throw on each one while being on the beautiful Lake Biwa.

I purchased the 7'11"XH last September and it is an excellent hard bait rod, extremely satisfied with it. Make sure you use ferrule wax and don't dry fit the sections. Also, it's easier to line up the guides if you assemble from tip to handle. Chase your dreams, my dude.

I’m using the 6th sense travel 7’2 casting rod. Came from NJ to Florida and the bag attendant through my rod behind other bags and she came off the plane perfectly fine 😅thank god lol
I use my 8 footer for dogtooth snapper in my pic and also tuna, grouper, marlin, dorado, sailfish, yellowtail, etc in Baja. That rod is a beast for 40-50# line.
Thats so badass! That rod is no joke when it comes to power!

I used a triza dragoon for some swimbaits on my last pike fishing trip, going to pick up the XXH valkyrie for next year....need to throw some bigger slabs of rubber.

Yes, very much so, Biwa will bump out a few teeners a year and many people seeing the world record size bass

Hi Geoff, great stuff. Have you used the 7'8" Heavy rod and what weight baits is it good for, I'm guessing 2-5oz maybe?
I have used it a little, its a lighter rod for that 2-4oz range for sure!
I have this rod for pike and I love it I use it for anything from half oz too 4 oz but my friend has cast 5.5oz with his. I love it as I'm able to cast small light stuff and also bigger baits. The xxh is next on the list for me

it's official nothing i have in my arsenal of gear is suitable for Biwa OR 10 oz sb's.
Hahaha for its size, its relatively light, most baits that big are twice the weight!

Would you recommend the Megabass Hunting Weapon for Hinkles and heavier swimbaits ?
It will throw that size bait, but the rods are a bit outdated and are on the heavier side as well as not being parabolic. When casting, your body does most of the work. Strong rods overall but much better options out there on the market for less the price

There are definitely a lot of boats on Biwa, they just weren’t around that area that day, its a massive lake as well
Did you get a Japanese fishing license?
Biwa doesn’t need license
Do not need one for Biwa, other bodies of water like certain lakes and streams you need a permit to fish
@@crazybassfisher I'm sure you know, but technically it's illegal to catch and release LMB in Japan. They're considered an invasive species. Of course, bass fisherman in Japan still do it, just discreetly.
Can you talk about this reel shimano Calcutta, why is this reel so special and so on? I remember see people argue with each other at bait shop just to have this reel. I saw one guy would buy this reel and never use it, only to hang on the wall😂
