There's a theory about Jack that I found quite interesting. Because the ship "mocked god," Jack was actually an angel sent by god to ferry all the souls of the dead back to heaven. Rose was not supposed to survive the sinking. So when she tried to kill herself, Jack stopped her because it was not her time yet, but the angel accidently fell in love with Rose. The fact that he was able to show her what it was like to "fly" may strongly indicate he was an angel. Because of his love for Rose, he protected Rose from the sinking and broke his covenent with god. As a result, he was forced to stay entombed in his mortal remains until the day Rose eventually died. The end scene where Rose dies, you see her enter the Titanic and is greeted by all those who died. They all seem to be gathered around Jack, who is seemingly waiting on Rose at the exact time the Titanic submerged. Waiting to take her to heaven. It's not my theory, but I like it
