Namaste Swarnamalya , i really appreciate your flair towards the artisans and am sorry to tell that the Ajrakh that you own is made of harsh chemical dye and it isn't made of natural dye ..blues in Ajrakh if made in natural dye seem a bit pale and not this dark, also the work looks like that of screenprint and not handblock, dhakai muslin is nothing but cotton, Muslin is generally cotton, yes Jamdani is very labour centric and a weaver takes around a month for certain designs , the white jamdani looks like Powerloom to me, i could clearly tell if the reverse side of the saree was visible. I am based in Chennai and specialise in Bengal weaves and Ajrakh handblock prints. The customers are generally duped by these exhibitions in kalakshetra and elsewhere hosting it in the name of Handloom and Handblock. Handloom and Handblock cannot be mass produced hence a weaver can never travel to sell his art in that quantity. I although really appreciate the way you narrated the history about our craft and artisans.

Thanks for your comments. My sarees are from the weavers and they are original. But I understand your anxiety as a seller:-)

Loved the narrative detailing the painstaking processes behind the creation of both the sarees! Like you, I cherish our country's rich heritage of handcrafted textiles and handicrafts. And I love patronising the artisans so that the art form thrives!
I have a request for you! Could you kindly show us how to maintain and store these precious works of art? Like tips for maintaining kanjivarams and other heirlooms! Thank you!

Do you mind doing a video on fabric /textile travel story of india from your collections. It would be helpful if we could know where the artisans are located.Oftentimes it is the middlemen chain which makes money .
