And usually in the heat of battle, you would NEVER let you guard down. Then April realized that Splinter was out in the open, a perfect opportunity for super shredder. At that moment when April warns Splinter to get his guard back up, the sheer horror in Splinter’s eyes when he realizes he has made a huge mistake of letting his guard down. And finally in a split second, it seemed like there was a quick flash of splinter’s horrified face. And that’s where super shredder finally killed him. The shock and pure horror was shown in Ralph and April’s face. Just put their perspectives in place for a moment. Ralph literally saw his own father and master die at the face of the enemy he worked hard to take down. He was the man who helped Ralph overcome his anger issues. Not only that, despite his anger he gets the most emotional and protective for his family. As for April, splinter was her master and a father figure who helped her grow her great potential to become a ninja herself. Splinter even saw April as a second daughter to him. Seeing Splinter die is like seeing another family member of hers die, just like her mother. And also Leo. Splinter was the number one man he looked up to since the day he received his katana. He would always follow his advice and he’s the first person he would go to for anything he has troubles with. It’s no surprise that he would want to follow his father’s footsteps. But seeing his father die must had been the most heart wrenching to Leo. Leo had the strongest connection to splinter. He witnessing the full anticipation to his fathers death would have broke him the most. Hate to say this but in a way Splinters death was one of the greatest character death scenes I’ve seen.

This is probably my favorite version of splinter he is wise, funny, we see him being a good father and teacher, and he has so many badass moments. And while yeah it is sad they killed him I'm impressed they had the balls not only to kill him but kill him in such a violent way and on screen props to them.
Favorite moment in the series for me was when Mikey was messing with the smoke bombs and says “Oh! I’ll go get Splinter!” Throws a smoke bomb down and splinter is where he was “Michelangelo tells me you wished to talk?”
