The biggest shock on this trade was the fact that both organizations agreed to trade the two players who were genuinely loved by their community and earned every ounce of praise the received.
Weber was near the end and Nashville wanted to get a return, Bergevin the moron took the bait and gave them everything they were asking and more. The trade should have included a 1st overall to montreal the very least but Bergevin is so dumb there's no chance this would have crossed his mind
Now this is loyalty. PK Subban never wanted to leave Montreal, but it wasn't in his hands and the powers that be decided to trade him. Tell me the last player on another team to ever get a standing ovation like that. It was a HUGE mistake letting him go. He had heart, personality and talent which is a dangerous combo in any sport. I love Webber I just wish we got him under different circumstances. Imagine what impact Webber would have on PK. He could have been the greatest TWD in MTL history
@Nightstalker_55_420 Maybe. But he brought so much excitement to the ice. Those slap shots from the points of the remaining seconds of a game 7, or hopping out of a penalty box to get a break away and absolutely breaking the goalies ankles. He had a great relationship with Price and trusted him to do a lot. And when PK was a "turnover machine", Price was a Vezina trophy winner. PK should have been a franchise player. I stopped watching hockey all together a few years after that trade. Montreal games fucking sucked. Subban being traded at the peak of the City of Montreal loving him, killed him. It got in his head.
If one player deserves this type of ovation it’s him, he did so much for the community and the city of Montreal ( leafs fans here btw) I respect the shit out of him and wish him a happy retirement. Hopefully he gets picked up by a broadcasting company would love to see him on tv!
