Scarborough History: How Scarborough Became The First Seaside Resort UK

A short video about Scarborough's history and how it became the first seaside resort in the UK thanks to the discovery of natural spring found close to the South Bay beach.
But that isn't where the story ends, Scarborough eventually turned into one of the most popular holiday destinations in the 19th and 20th centuries thanks to the development of the seafront area, starting with the famous spa water.
As well as the Spa Bridge the UK's first funicular cliff lift also helped transport people up and down the steep cliffs of Scarborough.

Dan Smith Yeah, a lot of people know there’s ‘The Spa’ as a venue but i guess because the water is not drinkable anymore people don’t really talk about it!
