WHAT a great old Autocar and such a cool video ! (Have the exact mate to it but a White Construcktor with a 290 Cummins turned up a wick). Mine is a '77 tanker with quite low miles and was used to haul water to sprinkle roads under construction in MT. Square fender top. These trucks are iconic ~
This truck was part of a bridge crew. It pulled a trailer that had a device that would lower underneath a bridge to work on it.
It never drove much but sat and idled. It had a 230 in it but something happened to it and we put the 290 in it.
Old school cool can’t beat that

The oil has been changed again sense this video and it’s not smoking like that anymore.
This is after the fuel pump and injectors were fixed.

Always love tossing new drivers into an old truck with an over and down rather than over and up. Confuses the heck out of them. I can barely drive a twin but show people two sticks these days and they are lost. Five reverse gears? WHAT? hahahaha.

I think I drove 4 trucks with quads. The tractor was a 4000 White, non-turbo 250 Cummins and a Mack quad and a 6:83 gear. Lowboy hauled a D8 before us and the dragline weighed 25 tons. Yanked it all over the place. I like a quad. Anything you need..............somewhere! Just go stirring!@@AppalachianRust

Don't get me wrong I love scavengers but nothing compares to a good ol 855 rather have a 290 more potential
