This is When Universal was good. They put so much time and energy in the crowd work. They get everyone involved, it's a lot of fun!
They still do this for the Horror Makeup Show 😊
Is that what’s in that building now?
Yes sir!! 🤙🏽😊 The better days.
Saw this show in 1994 and I distinctly remember being 10 years old standing 2 feet away from the Ghostbusters actors in their uniforms and seeing their proton packs and realizing “the proton packs are REAL?!!? I thought they only existed in the movie!!!” And from that moment I always wanted one. Now, 30 years later, I’ve got a full sized screen accurate pack hanging on my wall!
That’s awesome! Same here! Always wanted all their equipment and I’m almost there. Just waiting on the ghost trap. Did you build the pack yourself or did you get the Haslab one?
@@1MCslender I got the HasLab, no way I was gonna pass that up. There’s a video of it on my channel. I also got the Spirit trap and PKE meter but of course a few years later HasLab makes them so I had to buy those too lol. Ghostbusters props are my weakness!
Oh my gosh, this is delightful. I was the writer and director of this version of the show, and I've looked in vain for a good video recording. This is a wonderful performance of the show. The actors are terrific (I don't recognize either of the lead performers, but they're both great - and Louis Tully is a dead ringer for Rick Moranis. If anyone knows their names, please post them here!) The audience is terrific, too, laughing and applauding in all the right places. And the guest volunteers are delightful, especially little Nick and his armload of slime. What a marvelous trip down memory lane. Thanks for posting!
I'm so glad you liked it, thank you for your comment and thank you for having being part of that show
i have many other videos of rides and stuff from that time, posted here on CZcams in my channel, hope you enjoy those too, brings back memories :) i love going to the parks and as a matter of fact I'm in one of them right now replying to your comment lol,.. best regards
I just came here specifically to find this so that my kids could see it. We were at Universal Hollywood and my son asked me if the Ghostbusters were there. His question made me remember this show and how much I loved it when I was young. Thanks so much for such wonderful memories.
@littlecatfeet9 thank you, I'm glad you liked it, hope you can watch the other videos of the other rides that were also there at that time like king kong, jaws and back to the future, they're in my channel
I believe that's Wayne Brady as Winston. He played him during this time.
I got picked for this show when I was a kid. Such an amazing experience!
Got to experience this attraction in the early 90’s. It was a lot of fun and really well done. I had VHS recordings of our visit. Wish I still had them.
This is so awesome. Love the acting and personalized experiences.
This show really blew everyone away at the time... such a shame they had to shut it down. Universal had such great shows. The line was always packed.
I wish universal could actually bring this back but I'm more updated version. Something close to how the Bourne Stuntacular works. That would be amazing.
The new movie that came out did pretty well and as a good ggostbuster fan I loved the film and it totally lives up to the og films.
My nephew would've loved this, he's a total Ghostbusters fanatic and has his own jumpsuit, pack, and everything.
I was 3 in 1996 and I don't remember seeing this at universal but I remember the Barney live show and Beetlejuice show
Ghost busters is amazing as a movie.
I would've went bonkers if I had the chance to see it. The attraction was closed for maintenance the day we went. Too bad I'll never know if they pumped toasted marshmallow scent into the audience when the Stay-Puff Marshmallow man got roasted. But seriously , probably holds a coveted spot on my childhood regret list not being able to see this.
Can you imagine having to do that show day in, day out, all day, one after the other?😳
Yes. Yes I can
@@TheLordLuther then tell me, Did you participate in this show?
@@benjiespinosa4703 not that show. But I've done show after show for 8 hours straight in another circumstance. Ran a kids show back to back "Wind in the willows".
@@TheLordLuther how was that experience? did you have to say the same dialogue every time?
@@benjiespinosa4703 considering we all knew each other. This was a regular play. It was cool because we would know the script so well we could improv and mess with each other to make it fun
Just brought me back 2wo childhood, I was the 1 that yelled Blockbusters lololol 30 yrs old now, and I still call em
Oh man, I only remembered little bits and pieces of this since I saw it when I was three. This was so cool, thanks for unlocking all those hazy memories that I had of this!
I'm glad you liked it, please share and subscribe if you can, i have many vintage videos on my channel and more to be uploaded
90s Universal would've been sweet to experience. I missed it tho.
well, at least you get to see what it was like with my videos, in my channel i have old disney videos too from back then, thanks for watching please subscribe
I snorted!😂😂😂 I miss the old Universal Studios! Someone should open up a Retro Universal Studios!😂
Thank you so much for documenting something I couldn’t experience!
glad you liked it, please subscribe if you can as i will be uploading more
I'd love if they brought this back just to celebrate the release of the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife films.
This is my first time watching this since the 90's when i was 5. Thank you so much for posting this. I actuslly believed the ghosts were real and i always had that memory of that unwordly experience after the show. Thank you again for unlocking this gem to me and everyone ele. God bless you.
I'm glad you liked it, thank you for your comments, please share and subscribe if you can, i have more videos of old park rides from those years :)
My friend Mike used to play Walter Peck in this show while Wayne Brady was working there at the same time in the cast.
I remember watching this show as a kid and being scared as hell. Especially when the Marshmallow Man appeared. 😱
I was like 3 or 4
I thought I could handle because Ghostbusters 2 was the first movie I ever seen in the theater
I was wrong: I was scared shitless, of the part where Louis brings in the “fake ghosts” no less
I didn't remember the pre show being this involved, great stuff.
OMG I loved this show back in '94 but we weren't allowed to take photos of the exterior or the show, so this is fabulous. Great memories. Thanks for posting this!
yeah, i was very lucky to be able to sneak in the huge camera i had and no one told me anything for recording everything, glad you liked it
please share and subscribe if you can, i have many vintage videos on my channel and more to be uploaded, thanks
@@Loco5002 will do!
You have no idea how nostalgic this for me. I did this tour. Some time in the 90's as a kid. This, king kong, the earthquake ride. Too many to name back then lol. Somewhere there is video of me "meeting the Ghostbusters" lol
good thing i have the videos here on my channel for all those rides 😉
They should bring Ghostbusters back in a modern way by replacing Jimmy Fallon. The "former" NBC building turned headquarters would be run by Winston Zeddemore alongside the firehouse. Taking place after Frozen Empire, you assist the Spengler family along with the OG's busting ghosts in custom Ecto-cruisers. Similar to BTTF/Krustyland when Doc sold his lab to Krusty, Winston starts being guest on the Jimmy Fallon show only telling everyone that he bought the studios for his Ghostbusters expansion, much to Jimmy's dismay and now he works for him lol.
Love some recording of this still exists, still have my 1996 Universal Studios rain coat from this visit.
This was such a great show. I miss it.
Chris Rick ikr?
@@ArchangelCJ98 ikr? Is that a question?
Ikr (I know, right) is how I strongly agree to full extent. I also miss this awesome show so much and am sad they got rid of it 😔
@@ArchangelCJ98 Gotcha.
Altos of fright and fun memories
The guy who plays Louis during the attraction looks like the actual actor Rick Moranis
As you guys might see a change my name
Goodness i really like how gozer sounds in this one!
R.I.P Ghostbusters spooktacular Ride 1990 - 1996
Yeah it was closed down too soon. With the success of Ghostbusters: Afterlife and the upcoming Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, for the 40th anniversary of Ghostbusters 1984. It’s time for the show to return with today’s technology 👻🚫
This is the best looking Lewis i've seen from this show. Really looks like him.
My husband loves ghostbusters if it was still there we would be there
One of the best shows
He looks like Rick moranis!!!!
you look like Rick moranis!!!
This looks RAD!!! So sad I missed it!!
I’m interested in the 90s decade, Even Though I was Never Born In That Decade.
Wow! I never knew about this....looked great!
Wish I could’ve seen this in person, unfortunately the very first time I went to universal studios was in 1999
thanks for posting this i never got to see it
I came here to make my “dreams” a reality. Just because I dreamed of a different Version of Ghostbusters Spooktaculer. Even Though I Was Never Born In The 90s.
2:40 this is how the entirety of all my 90s Disney home movies my dad made look. The lack of steadiness is what I’m referring g tobtw
I remember going on it, was cool.
I have vague memories of this when I was younger
My parents took my brothers and I when we were 2 and 4 years old and I still remember being scared by the ghosts flying above the audience
The acting in this is sooooo corny 😂😂😂 The live special effects though were awesome! As big a Ghostbusters fan as I am I'm sad I never got to see this.🥺
Nope that corniness is the Rick Moranis character. This was the closest to the real thing.
@@rickyde7906 true, but you only deal with bits and pieces of him in the movie. When he is the majority of the performance, it's a little too much.
I was there & I was 6 yrs old
I wish this could come back. Glad I could go through the haunted house for it though!
Can we have this instead of jimmy fallon the ride.
Yes please!!
I actually liked Twister more than the Jimmy Fallon ride.
I remember seeing this as as kid.
Very cool show. I saw it for the first time.
Wow what a Show😳
i'm glad you liked it, please help by subscribing
“dont delay start busting today” aged poorly
MUCHAS GRACIAS
he does a good Louis
I saw this as a kid back in 1993. It was amazing. I was kind of disappointed when I found out that years later they reduced the show to just the Ghostbusters being a boy band while Beetle-juice screws with them.
Awesome ❤😊
that's crazy that they got tress macneil and seth mcfarlane to do voice work in the preshow
amazing
They must have been down an actor that day, as I don’t remember Louis ever being in the containment unit fighting ghosts, just the core four Ghostbusters.
Curious how different the building is now compared to how it looked back then
The pre show was definitely as good as Shrek 4D’s
Ghostbusters Stock Ghost for the Terror Creatures (with Big with Mean Teeth Ghost, Mean Ghost, Eye Visor Ghost, Caterpillar Ghost, Horizontal Grin Ghost, Little Hopper Ghost, Big Mouth Ghost, Pointy Ears Ghost, Big Mohawk Ghost, Big Spike Ghost, Snow Hob Anagarak, Humpty Mink Coat Monster, Jack O, Headless Samhain, Terror Bulls-Dog Creatures, Ogre with Hydra-Rex, Big Bad Boogieman, and Oogie Pizza-Blob Ghosts)
Why they ever closed this I will never understand? It’s not like they replaced it with anything better than this was
You know what at Universal Studios Hollywood they should replaced The special effects stage into Ghostbusters Live Show Spectacular Attraction At Universal Studios Hollywood (but this live show Attraction will be much similar too the one in Universal Studios Florida)
WOW, the memories. Funny way the mind works, I remember this being so exciting, now it seems so crappy, nevertheless, thanks for the flashbacks.
My childhood!
tbh it doesn’t look bad for 1990
Awesome!!!!
i'm glad you liked it, please help by subscribing
Omg i remember this. I saw this when I was there! ❤
I’ve seen this in person long time ago lol
God I miss that show
9:04 I thought that weren't gonna include anything to do with the fan favorite porton packs... I also wouldn't be surprised if some fans liked the idea of Lewis being the star of the show for something different, rather then Slimer...
Orlando Florida got more money than Six flags 2020? 2021?
Was this recorded on the last day of operation or different month or different day on October.
Different month before the shut down
That kid is probably a dad now
super cheesy, script is hella corny but the effects work is fun
O U T O F T H E W A Y , L O U I S !
Omg this show looked so good. I wish I got to see it! Anyone know what year this show closed down?
November 1996, for Twister Ride It Out development.
I was there
This was the preshow.
Sorta like the show before the Ghostbusters show began.👻👻👻👻👻
And now .... Jimmy Fallon :(
At least it's entertaining and you can follow it unlike fast and furious 😬
God those proton packs were ugly.
You'd think with their budget at the time they could have actually made them accurate looking.
NOOOO NOT MY BROTHER
one... what's up with gozer's hairdew????
two... the ghostbusters themed xmas house lights video is more interesting than this "ride"
Look up "Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice Show 1992." It's so much better.
Wayne Brady 😂
Bad ass
i'm glad you liked it, please help by subscribing
Wait this was in 1996???
This version of the show opened in 1992... I guess this performance was filmed in 1996.
Is that……the mood slime?
no, that was more like the slime from the green ghost they called slimer, the mood slime was kind of pink
There something strange in the neighbour hood who you gonna call?
Continue song
Ghostbusters!!!
Awww
I thought it was gonna be He-Man
Sorry
Lord this is so 90's - you can see why they stopped it.
When I was a kid, I wanted to see this, but my family couldn't afford it. Now that I've seen videos of it, I realize how corny it is. So it's good I didn't go because it would likely have turned me off of Ghostbusters.
@@SniffHeinkel Reminder, you're looking at a low quality video of an attraction that was made in the 90's and you're an adult now seeing this in 2024. Technology has changed. So please give them a little more credit. Your childhood self might have been mind blown seeing "ghosts" disappear and reappear. It's only "corny", because technology and comedy has changed since the 90's. Twister (it's replacement attraction) looks corny if you watch a video of it on YT too, but when I, a young teen, saw it for the first time it looked and felt like the real thing (except the cow, that was funny). It even blew my parents away. Ba-dum-tss.
You prefer watching movie screens?
@@kkraut Most rides are screens nowadays. This, on the other hand, is a show, and most theme park shows are still that. I saw the Finding Nemo show in 2019 and it's actors performing.
@@Rachel-xu4br I hated 'Twister.'
It's at a theme park in Florida. Most people in Florida have ridden out hurricanes; Did they really expect us to be freaked out by an animatronic cow flying by that we could see the strings on?
I'm so glad they got rid of 'Twister.'
Looks like Walter Peck's REALLY packed on the pounds since the first movie, lol! Maybe he ate too much of that marshmallow goo he was covered in!
Fun fact: The creature effects in this show were designed by the Chiodo brothers, best known for directing the horror- comedy classic "Killer Klowns from Outer Space."
🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
Yikes, this is cheesy cringe!
This was the 90s, lots of things were cheesy back then
@@93seronica I was a teenager all through the 90s, you don't have to tell me. My movie collection jumps form the 80s to the 2000s.
@@thejokerspeaks wow you're so cool sir.
