Whats going on my friends! In today's video I'm going to break down 5 tips that can help you get the most out of being a F2P Player. The grind is real, and it's the most potent for those of us F2P Players.

Dude, your final tip was so on point. I remember when I was about 4 months into this game and I was getting burned out already from chasing the meta as a ftp player. I was hating the game. I couldnt stand the fact that my efforts felt so meaningless but then a good friend of mine gave the same advice you gave: Just have fun and farm who you want to farm. That's when I focused on my faves which are the FO. I know they arent the meta but I love their kits and just their overall looks. This advice saved me and has kept my love for this game alive till today. FTP and FO ftw!
A note about using Cantina Energy for farming toons: It's dual purpose, you can farm toons in cantina battles but don't forget that following cantina battle toon farming you can use your cantina battle tokens to also farm toons in the cantina store. I try to do both at the same time. For example every day I farm the DeathTrooper with cantina energy, but when I'm done I go into the cantina store and use the tokens I got from farming DeathTrooper to farm the First Order Officer (I'm prepping my FO faction for the next BB8 event).

Another smaller F2P aspect would be: mostly focus on mods that cost SHIP credits, when you're an older player, who already has all the relevant ships at lvl 85. Yes, ship credits are harder to come by, but they'll stack up faster, when you basically don't have a ship to level anymore. Regular credits will always be more needed, even if you just level mods up, or star characters.
5:20 pro tip dont make your account and start playing the game 1 year later since your shardmates are lvl 85 with g12 before you even get to level 5

This is completely true. I came back like 2 yrs later now almost 1/3 of the people in my shard have galactic legends
Also note that you not only need a guild that does Historic Rancor & A AT raids but you need a 7* character as well. Early on go into arena & do a focused farm on ST Ham, Leia or Kannen. Get them to 7* so you can get those raid rewards right away
Great video. So many videos are aimed at the top end players and leave you wishing you had the latest characters, which feeds the pay to win / save time mentality. But as you point out, take your time, enjoy it for what it is and the game will reward you.

I farmed Baze Malbus whenever he became available in shipments as 150 crystals for 3 shards from 0 all the way to 330 only getting his shards from there. Yeah thats a lot of crystals but thats a 7 star character that i have who is only pretty much end game farmable on that 9 something hard node, an investment i havent and will never regret. I really appreciate your efforts. Your video has given me a great base to compare were I am in the game. When I watched your April top toons I felt like maybe I had made a mistake farming Rex. I don't see him much in my Shard but he's been the reason why my Arena rank has gone up. Thanks again for another great video!

Just got to 85 today. Started in mid october of 2017. It's been an interesting journey.
ive been f2p for a year and 2 months. i just unlocked general kenobi last week. i couldnt imagine spending money on this game when everything is available to get for free

You make it sound so easy, mate! Just spend crystals you don't have, on gear and energy, and soon enough you'll get #1 in arena and get the crystals you needed to get there. ;) Many good tips though, and thanks for making great videos!

The intro light side and dark side packs are a must buy. They're $5 apiece and save you about 1 month of farming apiece or more. Plus, they let you get to the higher rewards levels of arena and fleet arena, so it more than pays you back in the added crystals.

I started a guild when guilds first came out and we're still going strong. I remember we weren't strong enough to do T7 Rancor or HAAT, but over time we worked hard, tried and failed, developed our rosters, and now a few of us can practically solo HAAT. I've spent $0 on the game too. We're not the most serious guild either with only about 40 members and very chlll rules., but then again, our guild name is "Mom's Basement", so you can't expect us to be very serious, lol

Promotes give a LOT of power. If you see a farmable team like Pheonix or Jedi, grab those shards and focus on a team you think will be fun like Pheonix, Jedi, Bounty Hunters if you bought Bossk. There's a great node in Cantina that gives Kylo Ren unmasked and his ship if you go first order
Nice video. Good advice on arena. Just made decision to stop pushing on fleet arena as it was getting me angry every day w the crappy RNG.
I spend like one special crystal pack for the anniversary event and one random Phoenix pack, little over a year of playing and already have g12 CLS, raid han, gk, and 5 Zetas at least. I've been pretty patient and pretty proud about it

I think the point on not buying character shards with crystals can be a little subjective. I personally farmed baze to 5 Star purely from buying his shards with crystals as I couldn’t beat his node in light side battles back in the day as I didn’t have Kenobi and this was pre CLS. Having him led to my arena rank improving and led me to get more crystals and eventually led me to beating his node. I now have a 7 Star g12 baze. Worth the crystal use for the first 5 stars? Absolutely.
I agree with you for the most part. As a F2P since the same time period as you (Dec 2015), it's all about prioritization, and I think that's the gist of your video. F2P will likely have to skip metas, or go for non-meta teams that aren't top 10 squads but span multiple metas. For instance, I went FO for my arena. It's not a top tier team, but it's been a top 50 team for the Chaze, Rex, CLS, Nightsister, and now Empire metas. Sure... it's not the best and it works better for some metas vs others, but for a F2P it's lasted years and still gets a decent payout.
Ships is the easiest in terms of arena and gaining free crystals... I'd focus on that. There's only one meta and there's no foreseable change in that. It's easy crystals when everyone has the same team and is just rotating payouts.

I try to have a lot of crystals saved up in case I want to go after a legendary character. These characters help you keep a high arena rank and likely help your guild in other areas of the game. I burned through everything for the initial CLS event, but could not bring myself to farm two 16 cantina energy nodes in a short time for JTR. Now I have 12k crystals saved up ftp and hope that is enough for the next event.
This is a great guide which I hope people starting out watch. I would be better off if I had watched one of these and made some better starting decisions. I won’t say any specific mistakes but I may have 7 starred a certain Jedi who flew out the windu 👌
I would add two things. 1. Get discord. It's free and every good guild uses it. 2. Get a swgoh.gg account. Loads of usefull tools and information and other sites like midguards roster tracker and crouching rancor use your swgoh.gg profile.
The best advice I can give is use the resources at your disposal, plenty of youtube vids and sites that will give advice on everything from mods to who you should farm. While the forums can be a bit toxic they still have some advice, the subreddit has a ton of players there to help, discord is great as well, many game changers and youtubers have open servers where you can ask questions, get advice and just have some fun.
Yea I was around level 50 when I bought the 2500 guaranteed catcher and I just got Biggs and when I got that pack I got wedge which is a great duo so I think it was worth it. Like you said I needed a lot of people at level 50 and likely to get a good person.

Splice smaller goals into larger goals. Example: Big goal 7* Thrawn, smaller goal 5* Thrawn, smaller goal 5* gear 7 Ezra.
For marquee characters take the shards they give you and passively gear them, so they are geared when you can 7* for free.
As an example for that final tip, I'm farming the Tuskens, because I loved them in KOTOR. Plus, just in case Revan comes up, it'd be awesome to have my Tuskens already geared up, and watch the fandom burn. 😆
I am a F2P Player in for close to 1 Year right now. I'm in the Top 500's in Arena with a Jedi Team with GMY and KRU as Tank and a Zeta'd Barriss *cough*. :D
The jedi Team was an Early Decision which i kinda regret today, working on FO for RR7 Raid and a Decent Arena Team by now.
Oh, so just be top of fleet & regular arena. Yeah, lemme get right on that.........smh ffs every f2p video is the same. "Oh just be top 5 in arena, then it's fine." Sorry homie, but 95% of f2p have ZERO chance to get top spots. Many of us have a ton of whales on our shards (I have 15 on my shard that always have the marquee characters maxxed first day).

The pay to win idea is DEFINITELY a fallacy with this game - it is the most generous and accessible game for free players I've ever seen.
And of course, the most important tip of the video - remember it's just a game, have fun, enjoy yourself, and do what you want to do with it. Because this game is casual enough to allow that and still let you be successful enough to compete. And my almost maxed out Gammorean Guard agrees with this sentiment.
It definitely has more in common with something like Warframe than it does with some of the P2P horror titles on mobile. Which makes it all the more amazing how badly EA botched BF2...
A quick tip I've spent 0$ in this game, I would recommend farming a certain faction. I farmed sith way before they became meta now I'm around 100-300 in my shard (no good mods or anything just simple health mods) and be committed to farming a certain faction.

Yes marquee characters are totally attainable. For example Fulcrum came out as a marquee character now she is easily found and I have her at 7 stars. Great video

Jar Jar and Jabba the hutt. Jar Jar should turn the tides with an upset ability for free to play players. And jaba have great leader and sync abilities, with that little creature as a bonus skill, till you give it a quick crack on his own.
@cubsfanhan one thing buying those gear pieces which are not available in rancor raid is best yes but carbs are undeniable
top 400 in my shard is g12 100K+ teams. my 80k zader sith team is one of the lowest gp teams to be top 500, no way will I be seeing that top 10 anytime soon. Started playing back before protection and mods, forgot about the game and came back about 7 month ago to find my shard to be absolutely brutal, more than a few whales in the ocean

ElHiars the vast majority of players in this game will consider that much spent over 2 1/2 years f2p. Some take a very literal definition and that’s fine too. Point being, next to people who are spending hundreds and thousands every few months I’m much better classed with the f2p players.
But again, call it what you wish! All I’m pointing out is that I’m nowhere near a whale

in the third chroniumpack i buyed was the exact character i wanted: Darth Nihilius. I am lv 81now and have got a very good collection of characters without spending a single cent
I’ve been playing a few months now and I’m level 72 (I think 🤔) and feel I’m spread quite thin. Trying level up a Phoenix squad for Thrawn, working on ship heroes for fleet arena, it’s taking a lot of patience 😅 just hope I’m ready when Thrawn comes around again!

I noticed that the full crafted gear is actually cheaper than the salvaged.
Personally I save up and buy the full piece instead of spend more and get a few pieces of salvage.
Great vid the only problem with top arena is my shard has a discord that controls the top 50 so if anyone enters they focus them it's getting pretty bad now "/
Bonus tip from me,
Utilize CZcams for information. Ahnald, Mobile, McMole and CFH (obviously) all have a lot of informational videos. I wouldn't really advise looking at videos from the beginning of the game though, methods have changed by now.
Also, ask questions! (Some) CZcams comment sections on tutorial videos are normally very helpful. Reddit, honestly i myself am not to fond of the community there so i would avoid them, but the forums and comment sections are reliable sources.

"Pay to play isn't pay to win, it's pay to not wait". With the benefit of hindsight, post bounty-hunters (and their ships), post sith triumvirate, post Bastilla (light and dark), post Revan, post Gear-12, post mod-upgrades, how well does this stand up? It's looking more and more like they're adding new power-creep way faster than a F2P can catch up to it.
Come on my discord server and talk to all the f2p players about it. The long time players who have farmed smart are doing just fine.
That's a great video. I posted comments to all you top guys/videos, mobilegamer, ahnald, etc..And I appreciate the beginner stuff. But, like most, I'm in the middle area. I unfortunately had to stop playing totally, from Jan 2017 till sept 2017, so I missed huge marquee events, squads, new toons...when I HAD to stop, I was 99% FTP....and was playing when SHIPS launched. I managed, as a FTP gamer, to stay in the top 3 of ships!!! I don't think until now I appreciated the crystals I was receiving each day...lol. After a month, PTP peeps took the top 2 slots...but FTP still kept me in the top 3 to 15.....waking up the next day to find I was 15th, and fighting back to top 5. I think dailies required 5 fleet fights at the time. Anyway, I digress.....MORE VIDEOS FOR MIDDLE GROUND...LOL. I have about 1.2millGP, Vonvlad. Those 8 months missed playing, I missed out on GK, CLS, JTR, PHOENIX SQUAD, NSs, etc. The only thing I already had was EP at 5*. So when I was back in, luckiky I was able to 7* him. Gear has become...well, everyone needs the same 10 pieces...THAT'S WHERE CGs GETS YA, and puts that worm in your brain....just spend $10....it'll help you gear that last looooonnggggg mile to OMG........GOLD. Wrong....it'll take at least $50 to fill about 4 slots of t12. Then of course, there's slots for T13....and I'm sure we'll see lvl 90 soon. ANYWAY, thank you....but I, like most players need the middle ground help, which I know there is none. Just grind. I am planning to drop a $100 next 25% sale so I can t12 2 or 3 that are almost there anyway. Thx 4 your time, videos and help! Vonvlad

Im stuck in a wonderful situation....I have shards to upgrade my characters, but no credits to do it.....im looking in all my battles etc, because I can't upgrade, and I can't upgrade unless I win credits...
Tip 4: I wish I had not spent my first 9 months NOT playing with a guild... guild currency alone is very valuable, not to mention Raid Han and GK as they are core components of many meta teams.
Tip 5: I take this one to heart, I just wish I had done it a long time ago. Since I said F it and went with not only the actions of F2P but the heart/spirit of F2P, I've had more fun, more success and more drive.

I made my account a few years ago and recently started playing again and the top 50 in my arena are all fully maxed zeta teams. I’m around #3500 and everyone i play against is 10 levels higher than me.
For those who don't want to spend 16:32 of their lives for no new information, there are the tips as said in the video:
1. P2P = Pay to not wait
2. Prioritize Arena & Fleet Arena
3. Spend your crystals wisely
4. Get into a solid guild
5. Have fun!

Do the video on how to get to the top of your shard arena. I'm level 84 (November 2017 shard) and I'm hovering at the 280 to 180 rank. Help! My only payout is from arena (50 to 60 crystals/day).
Rex lead, Talzin Asajj, Daka, Zombie (weak) easily beats the meta with sion. Try it out man...lol’s for days
One question. You say focus on arena and use those crystals to get better, but it's difficult to get into top 50 in arena when everyone is using p2p characters like scion, or toons that you can't get the first time round like RJT. What would your solution there be?
Rex teams are still viable. There are absolutely f2p options for you.
Cubs you should have told everyone to start hoarding crystals. Last year we had lots of double drops for May 4...

Well I'd say farm the characters you love. I'm a free to play player and I have a g12 double zeta Jyn I clearly love R1 too much. But if you find a faction you have fun with go all in. I have recently changed my arena team to a Cls team but I made top 100 with Jyn for a long time.

I have to say, I was in the position of not wanting to leave my guild because of friends I made. But when I left and finally got GK, it was probably the best day I have had playing this game. And you'll make new friends, do t be afraid to leave your guild if you think they are holding you back!
What worked for me was not taking these guides at face value! Since literally everyone follows them! And 6 months! Then i was at the top of both arenas one day.
I am personally screwed for Squad/Fleet Arena payout as they are during my worktime. I would pay money to be able to set it to a different time.
I would only spend crystals on new characters after I have done all the Hard/Cantina Node farming out of the way.

I'm fairly new, and I like that there are ALOT of characters to farm. But why do players all seem to be using same few select teams of charachters? You can farm a team of Jawas but have never seen anyone in arena with them.
Why can't more characters be viable to play
just saying a Marque Toon will actully be like 50% cheaper then it comes into the shipment, then it is to buy from pack, a toon from shipment cost aroung 1500 (danish) thats aroung 150 Dollars, And then the marqee Toons come in the game and you buy the packs you will easy use like 200-300 dollars to get them,, :D
But yaer would be alot cheaper just to farm thenm with Cantina energi :D
Reached level 85 and I thought I would be getting good rewards for reaching end game.

One person out of every two thousand+ can get top of either arena, and doing them both in the same day is just as preposterous as doing one of them two days in a row.

Raid Han has an amazing zeta ability
That would be hard for anyone to say. You should link your account... swgoh.gg then based on that can better decide. Also, bounty hunters are about to get a rework. If you have good bounty hunters then they could be the next meta. No one knows but it sometimes helps to have a zeta waiting. If you are high on arena a Zeta Palp lead will move you down.

I'm level 85 with most legendary characters, a few g12 toons, but last year I took 6 months off the game, when I came back it was horrible, everyone had better rosters. I can only finish in the 200's now:(
I agree $83.99 isn't loads over that period of time but how has it ended up to be 83.99? All packs and purchases end with 99 so surely that amount is wrong? Do like most of your content but I'm sure this number isn't exact.
