Nadine, I wanted to share with you that I just got back from my first ever Camino, the central portugués, with lots of encouragement and inspiration from your channel ❤ it was amazing and really inspired me to do more multi day hiking and walking trips or Caminos, I felt so safe and confident, and it was wonderful. Thank you for everything you do here! ❤
I also did the Portugues starting from Lisbon Mar 31st to Santiago via the Litoral ending April 30th with 2 days rest
I am flying out tonight to Madrid. Starting from SJPP Thursday 5/30 first timer, solo and you were part of my inspiration! thank you thank you! my pack is 13 lbs thanks to your videos and I am so excited!!!! ❤
Buen Camino ❤
Buen Camino!! You must have just finished your first day on the trail, I hope it was wonderful!
Thank you for all the information. the podcast about Primitivo came perfectly on time.
Very excited for your walk in Norway. I will say Buen Camino! then you will tell us what is the appropriate word for that one :)
Thnx for this video! I am going for 3 weeks to the Camino del Norte ❤ & looking forward to your Norway adventure 🙏🏻
Question for the next Q&A: what is your favorite type of material for clothing and other aspects while on the Camino/other trips? Do you go for cheap gear for certain items or just look at quality? Do you go off of looks?
I really hate plastic and so I try to avoid anything made out of it. For example I switched my shirts, jacket and underwear for merino wool (very pricey but worth it (Decathlon has great quality to price ratio actually)), switched my microfiber towel for a linen towel... small things like this
How wonderful to see you again here. Thanks for taking the time to post. I can understand how busy you must be ( I used to be a teacher !!).I was away for a few weeks, walking the Camino Portuguese (coastal and Espiritual). I am looking forward to listen to your podcast with Dave. As a matter of fact I was also one of his guest (episode 69) about the Via Podiensis. I am now writing another book ( ON FOOT IN FRANCE has done well in USA) and I hope to publish in 2025. It will be about the Camino Portuguese which I think does not have many books on the market (except guide books). The Camino is a wonderful place to meet people. My Camino family is still growing. Enjoy your time in Norway. BTW: The Camino Primitivo could be a choice for us for 2025.. Still not decided.
Yes, as a teacher you know how busy the end of a school year can be! But I'm excited to finally be heading into 'summer mode'... and really excited about Norway! It sounds like you just had a great Camino, and I'll make sure to listen to your episode on Dave's podcast- I've listened to some of his series about the Via Podiensis, but not all of it! And so exciting about another book, that's such great news!!
Yo, Nadine, Thanks for your update. I just finished the Chemin de St Jacques from Le Puy to Conques. Wow! Thanks for all your help and advice in my preparation and thanks for all you do for our Philly APOC chapter. Rick
Woo hoo, congrats on your Chemin! I can't wait to hear about it :) We've missed you at the last few chapter events, but we spent some time thinking about all of you out there on the trails. Safe travels if you're still in Europe!
Norway is fabulous. Have fun.
I can’t wait!
Norway - Oh, my goodness😊 I am looking forward to this next adventure👏👏👏
Hi Nadine, I just finished my 100km Camino Primitivo from Lugo to Santiago de Compostela. I learned a lot from your videos, so I was quite well prepared. Luckily, I bought a Camino Passport from Lourdes, France while on holiday there. Lugo Cathedral did not any stock. After some research, I managed to get it from the Lugo Camino Association which only open during certain time only. I couldn't imagine starting the Camino walk without a Camino Passport at the 100 km point.
I think it’s refreshing to walk a whole different route in another country. Riktig Vei!!
PS. Golden Girl Rose would have been proud of you to walk St Olaf(v) way!!😊
Looking forward to watching your Norwegian series! My great-grandmother came from Trondheim and I've visited the area before, but I'd love to walk St. Olav's Way!!
Great to see you branching out into treks in other countries. Norway seems fascinating, so I´ll be looking forward to this one! I´m going to do part of the Camino de Invierno when i´m back in the fall.
I heard you on Dave Whitsons podcast a couple of weeks ago. His is a fantastic podcast and it was great hearing you talk about the Primitivo .
Yes, he is an AMAZING resource and advocate for the Camino. I'm so happy that you heard the episode!
This sounds amazing! I bet that Norway will be stunning in the summer!!
Wow, great update! We've had our eyes on St Olav's Way for years. We can't wait to watch your experience. Please send us a message if you get to Spain this summer!!!
Hi Nadine, thanks, nice to see you! Aha, great news, St Olavsleden in Norway! I hiked St Olavsleden from Sweden in 2018, from Sundsvall to Trondheim, a great experience that led me to more long-distance hiking and Camino Frances last summer. This autumn I am aiming to hike Camino Norte - (>Oviedo) - Primitivo. What do you think about that hike in late September/October? Looking forward to your reporting from Norway! Hi from Sweden! ☀️🇸🇪🥾😊👍
Cant wait to share the St Olav's way with you. I am hiking the Camino Portugues (coastal route) at the end of September... All thanks to you, your inspiration and reassurance. Maybe Norway will be the next dream!
Wow, Norway! I look forward to your videos! This year for me it’s hut-to-hut hiking in the Dolomites in late Aug/early September.
Can’t wait to see your videos from Norway!!
Looking forward to seeing your St Olav’s way pilgrimage! I’m going to do the Camino Ingles in a few weeks so I’m excited for that! Buen Camino! 😊
Your videos are great too, Kate!!
Good for you! I love your sense of adventure. As the Stoic guy likes to say, “the obstacle is the way” - take a tent! Consider it an opportunity, rather than something you have to do, but something you get to do; a skill you get to learn/improve on and talk about for your YT channel. Save money, but more importantly, have fun with that experience. You could leverage all your Camino skills to dial in your pack (after researching temperature range and rain on the Norway trail), and practice pitching a tent in your area. There are excellent ultralight tents out there - The Durston X Mid Pro (and Pro 2) are super lightweight and very easy to use, and excellent in wind and rain (great ventilation). There have been some small upgrades to those tents, so you could find an older used one for less money, perhaps (and those would be great - i have an older one).
Thank you! My son's also an avid hiker, & his Mom's family is from Trondheim. Maybe an outing for us next year as a bit of memorial to his Mom. I really hope you post videos about your journey there.
so glad to see you hale and hearty...especially at the end of another school year! I find it amazing that you were able to do the trek in Peru and then get back to school. I had plans for an early summer return to the Camino, but health and life issues have intervened for now. So I will try some of the early stages nearby of the Mission Walk in California. So cool that you are a Phillies fan, I have a number of friends who are too, but that being said, "Go Giants" especially over the next several days! be well, Nadine, and, of course, bc!
Norway sounds great, and a stark contrast from Spain (weather/land/language wise)
I'll be following with interest as that's just a short hop across the channel from me, so you might end up expanding my bucket list. Have fun :)
Thanks for your update. I’m doing the Camino Norte in August. I did the Frances in 2022. This will be my second Camino.
Fascinating. All the best. I'm off to Sweden in late August to see my son and his family, so I'll be in the neighborhood. I'm writing from Australia.
Great video, a lot of information that was new to me. Looking forward to seeing your Norway trip. This year is about staying local to Kent, Surrey and Sussex in the UK and building up my fitness (went deverly downhill since 2020).
P-H-I-L-L-I-E-S! My friend was on the camino (Frances) last month and met friend's of yours from PA. Small (camino) world!
Camino Convo with Nadine... yeah, there is a certain ring to that. St. Olav Ways sounds like an amazing time... bring mosquito repellent though. I was in Norway when I was 16 for the World Scout Jamboree. I's a beautiful part of the world. The people can seem reticent at first... but once you get to know them, they are some of the warmest folks you will come across. Looking forward to your videos. Cheers and adventure on!
I'm happy to watch vids from other long distance hiking trips. Norway sounds great!
As for doing a short camino, is there any recognized camino route starting near(ish) Scandinavia? It'd be interesting to see a non-Spanish or French camino route!
That is fabulous. A friend of mine did the whole way a few years back. She loved it so good luck
Looking forward to hearing about your Norway adventure! Lots of Camino-like hikes around, I'm thijking about ones in Italy and Turkey too ...
We did the Vía de la Plata from Sevilla to Mérida a couple of weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing how you get on in Norway. Haven't watched the Perú series yet.
My wife is looking into the La Via de Francesco, Camino St. Francis, in Tuscany, Italy. You may want to consider that one too... Buen Camino or however they say it in Norwegian!!
A Norwegian trail, how exciting!! 🤩 When will you start?
End of June!!
I hope you know how far its between the beds and how few they are over here... Havent walked it myself, yet, but its on the list. Gudbrandsdalsleden is very different from the caminos we know from Southern Europe, both in logistics and terrain... On the good side, everyone here speaks English and you are allowed to free camp.
I wish you a great trip, looking forward to your updates, whenever they come.
In Norway we say "God tur" (= have a good trip" when we go hiking or travelling).
God tur and enjoy 🇳🇴
Should watch the What shoes to choose Video...what soap is hpod for socks
Spending 2-2.5 weeks on a Camino starting in Sept. Not sure which one. It will be my first. I'm looking at Sanabres or Frances :)
Look forward to seeing part of your Norway journey. I’m walking Norte-Primitivo in August and excited for us both! Thanks Nadine. Oh and could you post the little coil water heater you shared last year. I’ve attempted to buy one but to return, too big, too heavy.
The Norte/Primitivo is just the BEST combo! Here the electric coil that I use: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001U0PA7M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
How about the Ingles from A Carina or the Portuguese and do the Spiritual variant after Norway?
