I have gone all around the world, but I will always BE FROM BELLE GLADE. I will always have the muck in my heart. It's a tough place. Some people need to just drive through and not get out of the car. But the people who live there are really good. It is the only hometown I will ever have and the only one I will ever want.

Back in the 60-70s Belle Glade was known for its farmland and livestock auctions. My Dad would visit occasionally looking for more beef cattle to buy and sell. And later a horse. Very nice place back then.

I passed through belle glade this past weekend while on the way to okeechobee, and it was truly so sad to see a city like that. I’m from Miami so I’m used to a whole different vibe, but there were so many abandoned buildings and so much homelessness.

The poverty rate ranges from 27% to 40% among its roughly 27,000 residents, which is more than three times the county average of 11.4% and the US poverty rate of 11.5%. My concern isn't with the suburbs; it's with those enduring these harsh conditions. Some buildings should be condemned, yet people are still living in them, highlighting how little the city of Belle Glade cares about its citizens. The mayor and city council should be ashamed. If they won't address this issue, it's time for local business leaders to step up and make a change. Thanks for watching!

The 5 largest ethnic groups in Belle Glade, FL are Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) (57.2%), White (Hispanic) (13.2%), White (Non-Hispanic) (12.2%), Two+ (Hispanic) (8.43%), and Other (Hispanic) (4.82%). Regardless, your lack of concern for those living in such conditions is evident. Living in rundown homes and apartments isn't "culture"-it's poverty. Thanks again for your feedback.

Where are the people, and the streets are clean...
Some people may home, out and about, or working. The streets aren't dirty; it's just that many of the buildings are old, decaying and rundown.
