I don't believe they have a 70 hp difference since VW rolls out many cars above their specs. Get them on a dyno. The Golf got at least 330hp.

golf looks better than the a45 but a45 has a better interior design and exhaust sound . ofc a45 is faster because it has 70hp more but golf R is not that far behind tho ! golf R performance is just amazing !

71 horsepower difference.. which goes more to the Merc but I see that the VW performs more than a 310 hp hatchback and the Merc performs less as a 381 hp hatchback.. and I believe that the A45 is huge that makes it an unreliable hatchback due to its length

I'm actually in shock that the R is so litrally a few KPH behind the Amg, I know the AMG is an absolute monster and argueably the best hyper hatch on the marker (Insert RS3 fanboys here)...but damn.....wasn't exspecting that.
I just don't like that the AMG looks indentical to a normal A class, when I'm out driving I always have to look at the quad tail pipes to distinquish the AMG from a normal A class..I guess the same could be said for the R too but I personally find it easier to spot

Is the E63 AMG speedo really that close to GPS-Real-Speed?? Only 5 kph at 300? So I am assuming at 50kph its dead on correct or shows even less? Or is the shown GPS Speed just not that accurate? Mhh..
The S-Class..has like 15kph difference which should be normal and better for radar controls haha^^

If I had to choose one for free then I would choose the mercedes. If I had to buy one myself, then probably the golf. About the same performance and much more car for the money overall.
You can see that the golf is more stable past 230km than the Amg .. The amg is unstable and struggling to reach 240km ...
The Speedometer cam in mercedes a class is vibrating whereas on Golf it is very stable.
Err... the merc goes well past what the Golf R reaches and quicker as well. You must be mixing the dials up.

Yes amg is better in stock , but golf is cheaper , and you can upgrade for couple hundreds dollars, and it will be on the same speed level, that’s why I want r , and service it’s much more cheaper and easier than a45!

Of course it would last a lot km. If you daily use it properly it should survive 500 000 km for sure. Of course daily using of launch control and high revs will lower the number but if owner care enough it can last a lifetime

I worked 5 years as a mechanic for mercedes and ive never seen an a45 motor that lasted more than 100000km without getting reconditioned. first generation had cracked motors mostly arround 30000km.
if you want a durable, iconic benz, you go big block, its that simple. the motor of the a45 is a joke, a very small joke though

Lol, of course the AMG is faster. Golf R's aren't impressive really as far as acceleration, but they're way faster than past golf r's. 13.5 quarter mile times are what stock supras, rx7s and 3000gt vr4s ran in the 90s, and VW has caught up in 2018. Not impressive.
The AMG, however, is fast as expected.
idk what people mean about the golf R and it's looks and having ''more car'' it looks pretty much like any other golf? They just slapped 4 exhaust tips under it... And the interior is just boring... I had a golf and it's like you are only missing the horsepower to have the same car. At least take a gti clubsport, if you want some better looks.
