I completely agree with you about the coffee! They have a wonderful German coffee that my husband just absolutely loves and so I get that for him and I get the espresso in the yellow package and we mix them together and it is such a good blend. You were saying about the shredded cheddar cheese. I get a big block of cheddar cheese from Sam’s club and when I want it, should I just put it through my processor it just is such a wonderful job. Sometimes I may add a little rice flour to it, because if I’m making macaroni and cheese for my kids, then it helps to second and the rice flour really doesn’t give it any different taste.

I would really love to see how do you store everything because I’m running out of room and I didn’t even start to harvest anything from the garden this year yet I am very interested in you making a video about that. Also, I have to do most things in pint jars because I have two instant pots That I use for pressure painting because I have a glass top stove. I can water bath pan, my jellies and jams. Like for instance, I just made tomato jam yesterday I made a jars of that and three jars of onion relish for the hamburgers and hotdogs and things. I did my own bone broth. All of that I do everything from scratch. however, I was using Monk fruit as a sweetener, but it has that xylitol in it. They’re saying now that is bad for you and could cause cancer. Since I am of breast cancer, that worries me so I hated to do it, but I went back to using Stevia and a little bit of sugar just so it doesn’t have that funny Stevia taste. If you need suggestions for sweeteners other, then I’ve used agave nectar honey which I get from a local woman. She has huge hives. Coconut sugar is just too expensive for me to buy and some of these things are too expensive for me to buy. I think it’s sad that, we have to resort to using sugar for things because it’s the cheapest. So if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear it. I’m sorry for the slow reply. I just want to do the best for my family ends growing everything that were eating on a daily basis is my best bet. We are all organic.

Well done! Probably not easy to find a place for coats but likely easier than finding space for food. I did the same with the landing going down to the basement at the beginning of last year. The top half of the wall already had an indented section with shelves, so I relocated everything out of there, cleaned and painted it nice, even stenciled the stairs to make it pretty, and hung up some small additional shelves for my tinctures. The shelves have hooks so I got canvas bags at the thrift shop to hang on them and store light weight foods, and also got some buckets for additional storage. Mine is packed also and I need to do some rearranging, along with eating some of the food that expired this year. I'm not used to having a pantry and it does take some time and attention to maintain it.

I have really learned to read the labels from you! Thank you! We love the Moser Roth chocolate too - the orange is my favorite. Another thing we stock up on is the extra fine frozen green beans - I can't find those at our regular grocery store. I buy the coconut oil you showed - I'll have to do a price comparison and see if I can get a better deal. The price of that has really increased in the last year or so ☹One good thing though - I've been removing the labels and reusing the jars. I just found out this year that the bagged lentils that you make soup from... can be put in water and sprouted and eaten as sprouts or the sprouts put in the soil and grown as plants. My chickens ate them right up as they ate every blade/leaf of green out of my yard. Anyway, I was very surprised they are seeds and not just to be used for soup.

    • @maureensamson4863
      @maureensamson4863 Před rokem +2

It just depends on how the lentils have been prepared ... if it's the whole seed it would usually sprout into " sprouts " which can be eaten or planted . It the seeds have been husked and split ( referred to as " dal " in Indian stores and used for making a fairly thick soupy dish , often to be eaten with rice ) those would not grow ! When in doubt you could look for the" eye "which would show up on a whole seed ! Hope that helps !

@@maureensamson4863 I had a bag of just regular split or halved lentils, that are used to make soup, in my cabinet for a LONG time. I wanted to see if I could sprout them. I put them in a jar of water for 24 hours...then drained them and let them sit. Twice a day I rinsed and drained them. After just a few days little sprouts popped out and they got bigger and bigger as the days went by. Finally I took them out and spread them on some soil in a nursery flat I have, and covered them with more soil and kept them moist and they grew and grew. I put the flat out for the chickens and they devoured them. I was shocked, as they didn't look like seeds...more like brownish split peas...no eyes.

I can tomatoes and this year I'll can some marinara, but the organic tomato basil sauce is great to have on hand for when I'm working. Last thing I want to do is get home at 6:30/7:00 and start a cooking project. My husband will make pasta and heat up the sauce for a quick dinner for us. Hi Mary! I put the cart before the horse when it came to building my extended pantry. I would love some ideas about how to organize these stacks of boxes and buckets. I think I've decided that buckets are a pain in the bucket. My kitchen has always been big enough until I discovered bulk buying and now I have a mess. Don't get me wrong though- I'm happy to have this mess! I got tickled when you said your mother would mention a package of food wasn't even a pound and then you also noted that a few times. That bugs me too, 12 ounces... What happened to 16 ounces, especially with bacon! Thanks for taking us shopping and for all of the tidbits you throw in along the way ❤

Hi Mary👋! just wanted to share this with you, I think you’ll be quite tickled!! I was in my local Aldi, and I saw the maple syrup that you pointed out in the video, only this was organic maple syrup, grade B, aged in bourbon barrels. They had just got the shipment in that morning. Well some store employee had mistakenly priced them for $1.49 each!! At first I didn’t believe it, but after reading the price labels closely, I saw that really was the price! Well the good Lord gave me the thought to stock up, so I got more than a few😊(however I did leave plenty, as my mother taught me to always leave enough for the next bargain hunter). Well when I got to the checkout, the cashier said that couldn’t be the price because they only got them in that morning and they wasn’t supposed to be on sale, she called the manager, and the manager looked at the ticket and told her it was true!!! When I went for my weekly shopping yesterday, I saw that the price for them is now labeled $5.99 each!! Apparently management had swiftly corrected that mistake! However, thank you Jesus, I now have enough pure organic grade B, maple syrup, to keep my extended pantry happy for quite some time!!
    Love from the mountains!!👋❤

Mary.....Thank You for showing a bunch of Aldi's Organics for people to see. Which reinforces what I keep saying.......that it IS affordable to EAT ORGANIC!! That it IS easy to stop buying the poison pesticide crap and EAT CLEAN.
Yes.....Aldi's Organic Coconut Oil IS expensive; instead, get it at walmart.....MUCH more reasonable! You didn't show the Simply Nature canned Org beans. For a 'few cents' more, get Organic beans.....since beans (canned & dry) have some of the highest amounts of pesticides on them. And you should have shown Simply Nature's Organic butter (1 lb); even though it is salted, I will still buy it to make my Ghee. Simply Nature Org Ground Beef........get the 3 pack/FOUR pound when it's $17.96.....which works out to $4.49 per pound.
Between Aldi's and Walmart (for those who do not have a membership to Costco/BJ's/Sam's).....you CAN ditch the TOXIC CRAP and move to EAT ORGANIC, and come no where near 'breaking the bank'! NO EXCUSES!!
I do the majority of my shopping at Aldi's, Walmart, BJ's and Costco (98% Organic foods), and shop my two grocery stores for the SALE items (IF they can beat the $ of Aldi's/Walmart/BJ's/Costco)!! And I do this on a monthly budget of $280!! So, again, NO EXCUSES!! (STOP POISONING YOURSELVES......AND YOUR KIDS!!)

I love shopping at our local Aldi! My mom made tuna patties a lot. She also made creamed tuna for over toast or crackers (her favorite way) instead of using the more expensive salmon. She also made what she called zucchini stew (no measuring just a huge soup pot lol) Fresh zucchini and or summer squash, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes (fresh or canned), salt, pepper, garlic, and oregano and Italian sausage. She sliced the squash, and chunked all of the other ingredients, put the cut up sausage in the pot raw and set it on the back of the stove to cook until the sausage was done. Then she added parmesan cheese. She served it with a side salad and homemade garlic bread. I still make it because it's healthy and delicious. It's always a summer staple around here when the garden is producing.

Hi Mary Ken here. I first subscribed and became a patron after your first Aldi video. I went today and got the simply nature applesauce, ghee (had a lot at my aldi), crackers, refried beans, some sea salt chocolate and mustard. They were out of the little cans of chili peppers. Surprising. I usually buy a bunch. K see ya around the ferment counter.

it's all about time, and if there's little time to prepare meals, people will pay more for the prepacked foods which will get them on their way to work. My 27 year old adult child (married with a grandbaby on the way) drives 70 miles to work, one way. Some days they are at work until 10pm! They don't have hardly any extra time to fix lunch, let alone even stop at Aldi's (which we love). I do have them started with a small salsa garden and they love it. But for many people, it's too time consuming to do the retiree thing of leisurely shopping, cooking, and thoughtful meal planning. Take-out is "cheaper" when you consider time. Time is money. Hopefully with arrival of new baby they will take stock of their lives and decide to prioritize on slow family meals, and pleasant conversation. Thanks for your channel.

I've been saving the plastic pasta sauce jars from ALDI to use with freezer jam. I don't like using glass jars in the freezer, as sometimes things tumble.
Was tossing one recently and wondered how I could repurpose, and freezer jam came to mind.
I normally don't save plastic jars but this one seemed like a good idea.
It does feel a little weird as I've been purposely trying to use less glass.
