  • When I told people I was going to Liuzhou, they said I must try their famous local dish of river snail noodles. While it didn't sound too appealing to me... I thought I had to give it a try!

      The ruan (阮) is a traditional Chinese plucked string instrument. It is a lute with a fretted neck, a circular body, and four strings. Its four strings were formerly made of silk but since the 20th century they have been made of steel (flatwound for the lower strings). The modern ruan has 24 frets with 12 semitones on each string, which has greatly expanded its range from a previous 13 frets. The frets are commonly made of ivory or in recent times of metal mounted on wood. The metal frets produce a brighter tone as compared to the ivory frets.
      It is sometimes called ruanqin (阮琴), particularly in Taiwan.

Its actually really good for you because it lowers blood pressure and blood cholesterol and apparently will help thin your blood if its too thick. So many elderly eat it cause that might prevent stuff like stroke or heart attacks and such. Also its high in antioxidants :D Apparently its the pickled bamboo shoots which make LuoSiFen smell strange. But as a bamboo shoot lover, that doesn't bother me. Glad you tried something new to you!

      @user-hz9cm9qy3n Před 3 lety +2

      It's difficult to continue learning languages at this age. Unless there is a person who is fluent in Chinese and communicates with each other every day. No more than 80% of Chinese people can speak standard Mandarin. Although most people can speak Mandarin, they all have local accent. There are a few people in China who can't speak Mandarin. Usually they are ethnic minorities, such as Xinjiang Uygur. Only the ethnic minorities living in cities can speak Mandarin.
      Therefore, even if they can't speak Mandarin, the Chinese people can understand it. You don't have to learn Mandarin. But if you learn Mandarin, communication will become easier and more convenient.

    老外不知道,他去了辣,吃法不太正宗嗬!酸辣咸香鮮互相混合對味蕾前后左右互動刺激,各種配料互相輔助嫩脆軟爽各种口感相交,加上酸筍獨有的氣味真往上冲⋯⋯!很多東西是吃多几次,才会越吃越覺得好吃,好像雞爪,鴨脖子都是越掄越有滋味;榴蓮,臭豆腐聞着臭,愛上了欲罷不能⋯⋯!😊

    Bravo! The stinky tofu, Liuzhou snail rice noodles, Beijing bean curd juice, Anhui stinky mandarin fish (or freshwater grouper), and durian are probably amongst the most challenging food for Westerners... and yeah even for a better half of the Chinese. Few Chinese are able to appreciate and love all of those I mentioned 😝
