While getting hyped up for the HBO show this year, I've been diving into the game's original soundtrack and getting lost in the rich atmosphere it creates. The "All Gone" motif is peppered throughout the soundtrack, culminating in this full version called "No Escape." It's such a great example of how Gustavo Santaolalla establishes such simple but memorable themes, almost without you even noticing it, and then brings the music to the foreground at important moments while pulling on those themes for devastating emotional impact.

I bet Gustavo not even in his wildest dreams ever imagined he would get his music played by such talented musicians 10 years after making the soundtrack for a video game.
Based on interviews it sounded like nobody knew the kind of impact the game would have while they were making it! I'm sure everyone at least knew the music was incredible though 💛

By far one of my favorite pieces from Gustavo Santaolalla. I had actively been listening to this a year or two ago, in an old playlist, but music like this never really dies. When it's an honest expression, music is timeless. Thank you for reiterating timelessness. We don't have enough of deep musical expressions. As music itself is more invasive than any other art form. It is potent and inspiring in even the worst of men. You bring this and me to life in the ability to sympathize with music like this, and I can see the skill of your practice. Very beautiful! How do you play it so well in sync? do you have an earplug where you listen to the other melody?
Thanks so much! I made a metronome track that maps out all the tempo changes in order to stay in sync when recording the audio and the video. I just play it out loud when shooting the video, but then replace the audio with what I already recorded ✌
