    OMG. I just Googled Scott's house, which he designed for his family, and upon seeing it I started to cry. It's the most life giving building I think I've ever seen. Just looking at it helps me to remember myself.
    If anyone is reading it wants to see it type "The Guscott Kemp Residence by Scott Kemp Architect"

      I know exactly what you mean...! I think occasionally, the spirit of the building aligns with the spirit of the builder and from this house, I see all the warmth, generosity, and beauty, that I felt when I was talking to Scott!

    I really like his perspective and attitude. It feels like more architects should be in love with community service instead of with Big Heroic Projects

      After all these years of drilling down on the hard skills, I'm trying to deliberately focus on the soft skills, like listening and communicating.. and I agree... those are the hard ones!!!

    I was so lucky that all my architecture proffessors were practicing architects. I still remember them and they really gave me a good understanding of the world of architecture. I am a practising architect and I also have the privelege to teach in a private university, and I believe 100% in architecture teachers who also practice to give a real world groundedness. My colleague calls me a community architect since I am very much designing for communities, and our first big project was a public school. We had to win a design competition to get that project, and we were up against a big firm. I think the world needs more community architects and less "star-chitects".

    Your music is distracting from the low voice of your guest. Try no guitar music.
    Also your guest laptop camera has s great view under the nose. Not a bad angle. You look so glowing that your guest looks rough by comparison. Maybe turn your camera off. The guest has the spotlight.

    The problem with the lack of practice in the idea of architecture in academia, is that they don't make much money :D if something does not make much money compared to some other alternative ways then it won't stand out, that's kind of a law of human nature, unfortunately.

    • @DamiLeeArch
      @DamiLeeArch  Před 3 lety +1

      Do you mean that people in academia don't make much money?

    • @rfatihkaya6983
      @rfatihkaya6983 Před 3 lety +2

      @@DamiLeeArch no, academia brings a good amount of money that's not what I mean. The idea of architecture in the academia is good enough, but all of them stays in the borders of theory, it's not practiced most of the time. And the architecture that's being practiced around us is what we see people doing, they use tricks to increase the money they get, meaning the architecture is just a tool not a target.
      However, that's the very reason why we don't see the meaningful architecture happening, cuz it would be easier to make money the other way around, which is what the majority of people aim for.

    • @DamiLeeArch
      @DamiLeeArch  Před 3 lety +1

      @@rfatihkaya6983 ah gotcha I see what you mean. Yes that's why I think economics should be a part of the architectural education. We shouldn't be able to just make something that meets the budget, but be able to use our problem solving skills to make something sustainable, beautiful and financially viable 😊

    Does he has a website? I'm having a hard time searching for his work, the only thing I've found was his house.. (English is not my native language, so maybe I'm not searching it the right way.. I'm getting more results about nuclear energy than architecture xD)
