You can’t rent an apartment anymore in the United States without having a high credit score We don’t almost lead the world in homelessness for nothing!
Very true . Sadly our area is addiction ußues, choosing to not pay rent, parties, dealing on & on. Harder for them as to get out / hand up is not how system works. It keeps people down
Well idk what's so funny about that? My husband and I became homeless about 4 years ago and it lasted for 11 months. That was the time when covid started and everything was closed down. Restaurant's, churches, gym's and warming rooms for the homeless. We live in Milwaukee, WI. Milwaukee county started putting up the homeless in hotels because there wasn't any warming room open. A warning room is a place you can go if the outside temperature drops under 32 degrees. It open typically from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.. There was no place for us the homeless to go to, so Milwaukee county were putting up the homeless in hotels like I said. We stayed at the Day's Inn for about 3 months. The Day's Inn had a continental breakfast and they brought us all lunch & dinner. The entire hotel was full of homeless people, along with 2 other hotel's in Milwaukee county. We are no longer homeless & haven't been prior to that 11 month situation or since that situation. It was a wonderful thing community outreach did! They actually came out to make sure we were sleeping outside and offered us a hotel room. It gave the hotel owner's money and got a lot of people of the street!
I also think that it can be a wonderful gift for people in need. Only thing is, if the motels are doing this because they need the money, they probably are not able to pay much for cleaning or maintenance. Things can become really nasty really quickly, and then no one benefits.
Sounds like you were blessed with your situation. The homeless here in Minneapolis had the same thing done for them done and the majority of the people trashed the entire hotel and started dealing drugs out of it. They cleared everybody outta the place after a shooting though. That was the end of that. So now there’s all these encampments that the mayor periodically has the city evict them out of. A lot of people have been offered housing but they refuse to go because there they aren’t allowed to use drugs. Majority really need to go to treatment first. But those that are clean and sober take up the offer and get into housing.
Yes the one hotel mentioned plus a few othés are also taking advantageof programs!! Programs say not enough cash to help people much above shelter & meals as some are trying to get going . !! Not all are just hanging or want to hang out ! Very true! Our under the bridge people absolutely want no rules or help. They have their own "" community"" yet n3d the most help. Sadly, yes this is very real. We stayed at a Motel 6 like that in Watsonville. Dad made reservations. A veteran, thought he got a good deal. His room was so filthy, I had to clean it. Smelled of fish, bathroom floor dirty. Our room was next to a couple that looked like they'd lived there a while and moving out. Left pile of stuff outside our room and in front of our door. Management couldn't refund. No where else to stay. Wasn't like this prior to COVID Dad said. Why do they pay these owners to house people and still rent rooms, but don't keep up cleanliness! This should be a crime, stealing money from the state and the tax-paying people! Wake up Governor!
Together with the bus depo and that Bates Motel haha, your showing us some great places,I’ve never been to the US but your selling it dude lol, love your channel Lamont & thanks for all you do 😁👍🏻🫶🏻
$100 is a lot to pay for one night, and to share it with cockroaches, I'd be pissed off....but they have to house the homeless somewhere, especially when other shelters are full.
They did this with so many Motel 6 locations across California. This has been going on since 2019. The federal government is paying states for this. Some locations were completely bought out. Sucks, Motel 6 rates increased because of this.

Just wanted to add I don’t live in a bad area this motel six used to be ok several years ago anyway lol but when you put a bunch of homeless in there you get a bunch of chaos and drama.

Lamont a lot of the Motel 6's in cities are all run this way, they get referrals from the city or vouchers, and they get one night or a week at a time, yep, homeless stay right alongside a regular customer and some are real problems with mental health issues.
I used to travel a lot & had discovered some "hidden gems" as far as reasonably priced but comfortable motels. Took a trip recently and booked into one of my favorites for old times' sake. It had become a similar type of cheap, extended-stay place (never thought of cities actually paying motels to house vagrants, but makes sense.) It was run-down and filthy, and I left as soon as I'd done a quick bedbug check & found some little friends. Be REALLY careful where you stay!!
I traveled across country from San Diego California to the upper Midwest, stayed at Motel 6s the whole way because they are pet friendly- at every single Motel 6 I stayed at there were people staying there that called it home. There were families that got temporary vouchers I remember one lady in South Dakota had five kids in one room. Not uncommon at all.

Most of the public is not aware, but ALOT of motels are being used to discreetly house homeless people. I work in between two hotels, and both of them house homeless. Both are fairly nice places also, not seedy type joints. Both popular chain hotels ( I dont want to disclose the names). I had no idea until I started working there and started talking to the residents.. Not sure if this is nation wide, Im in Portland OR by the way. From what I can tell, the homeless people take up way more of the rooms than everyday guests do.

I live in a two-bedroom house on three cars and have a bike and when it's all wet outside like if it's been raining like it looks like there or if it looks overcast a little chilly I never ride a bike with shorts I always wear pants
Seattle too as you probably know. The King county wanted to open up closed hotels for homeless but they discovered meth. Not sure if people were ever able to move in.
You’re 100% right I was staying at a Extended StayAmerica. It was the same thing bedbugs in the rooms too. They give vouchers to the people living, in tents a lot of tents that you see on the street are empty. I got the heck out the bedbugs were taking over the place. I was paying 3500 a month while I watched all these people getting the rooms for free. I used to use the same words these aren’t travelers.
Those rooms cost more than the one that I’ve got my guys staying in. But hey on the bright side the owners are always making money by the government. SMH
Their all over cali, in fact, when events come to town they kick em out for the weekend or whatever, give em cash, and jack up prices until the events end, then let em back in after the travelers leave. They come back scortched out of their minds worse than before they left
Yes Lamont, it’s true. I was a case worker out there in California and our clients were staying at a Motel 6 through a transitional housing program. Stay safe!
I laughed so hard because this happened to me in Florida. I rented a cheap room so that i could go there to wait for my air b&b since my flight was super early. Omg it was so bad my daughter said mommy this is for the homeless, I do not want to even know what the room looks like. I went to see with my nebby behind and ran as fast as i could to get another room. The lady at the other hotel laughed so hard and she was super nice. I explained that I only needed the room for about 4 hours. She changed me only half the price since I was not staying the whole night, plus she felt bad that I booked at dope head inn!! This was Ft Lauderdale mind you, I also couldn’t reach management to get my refund. If these dumps would charge what they are worth nobody would book. I could see the hotel I booked it going for 29 bucks a night at maximal!!!! That is the only thing you really have go be careful about when you traveling. So far I have only got ome bad air b&b, my problem with that was it was not cleaned to my standards. So a quick dollar store run for cleaning products and Walmart for cheap sheet, towels, rags and comforters did wonders. I remember the owner being so grateful they refunded me 150.00 bucks. The cleaners were at fault, they didn’t have a property manager to check in on the cleaners. Nothing had ever been dusted in that place. So my first 2 hours were spent cleaning. I say all this to let people know trusting anywhere besides home is a 50/50 chance so book with this knowledge.

Pre pandemic I stayed in a motel that was decent with lots of travelers. I stayed at the same place a year later and there was a whole new bunch there. Lots of smoking young people and the type of people on government assistance. They were non smoking rooms and most of the rooms now smelled of smoke. I think the motel was being paid to house these guys. Unfortunately the motel closed maybe a year later. That switch really changed the vibe of that place.
I went to the planet fitness near me and expected to see what they show on tv and hopefully sign up for one of their classes. There was a sign by the front desk that said they are doing their part and helping people who are displaced...and it looked like it. Also, no classes and barely any people were actually working out. Just wandering around. One guy came in, grabbed a juice from the refrigerator and headed inside.
Semi broke down and had to stay at a motel six only place the company would pay weed smoke and gang rap went to the manager and he moved and said I had the wrong room . The window had bullet proof glass for the manager. Never slept dangerous as hell . California is bad news for that renting on vouchers from the state .
You know I've been following you for a long time and I really enjoy your content I really do it's good to have a sense of humor however laughing about the homeless situation even though yeah it is kind of strange how the hotels are moving these days but it's pretty much all over now I mean homelessness is on another level these days and unfortunately these people cannot help it and I'm not talking about those it's been in the street on drugs I'm talking about legitimate people that lost their housing I just don't see any humor in it, have a nice day

I live in a two-bedroom house on three cars and have a bike and when it's all wet outside like if it's been raining like it looks like there or if it looks overcast a little chilly I never ride a bike with shorts I always wear pants
Same in Portland for the most part
Seattle too as you probably know. The King county wanted to open up closed hotels for homeless but they discovered meth. Not sure if people were ever able to move in.
It's everywhere, ppl living in motels now. Sketchy
Our mental health system failed us so this is the result
Just another example of society deteriorating.
I believe our motel 6 is similar here!! Most of the panhandlers come and go from there and another motel close by!
Brilliant review at the end. You had us splitting our sides 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had the same exact experience in Albuquerque. Motel6 must have a government contract.
What would Tom bodett say now “we’ll leave the light on for the homeless “
😁😊😄🤣 hi 👋 gogo!!!!!!!!
@@wendysmith8246 hi Wendy, I hope you feel better soon,
That’s always been a “voucher” motel (since
05)
Great vid . . . . Know the area quite well . . . . Hilarious Lamont. . .
Why don't you get an apartment instead of staying in a motel?
We have motels here in Edmonton Alberta Canada doing the same thing
I have never seen anything like that where the microwaves are outside CRAZY wow🤔
Those rooms cost more than the one that I’ve got my guys staying in. But hey on the bright side the owners are always making money by the government. SMH
I bet the government pays more than $100 per night. Who would want to use a microwave that everyone has had their hands on?
I’d rather eat my food cold or frozen than use the community microwave
What do you mean? Everyone has had their hands on the microwaves regardless if they're outside or inside.
To me, anything that opens to the outside is crap! I never stay at places like that!
Lamont ur the man homie
Their all over cali, in fact, when events come to town they kick em out for the weekend or whatever, give em cash, and jack up prices until the events end, then let em back in after the travelers leave. They come back scortched out of their minds worse than before they left
Rember to stay humble my friend
Yes Lamont, it’s true. I was a case worker out there in California and our clients were staying at a Motel 6 through a transitional housing program. Stay safe!
Please use red roof inn instead :)
@@Lamontontherun we also had clients housed at premier inn locations 😂 hope you have a great night Lamont!!
Wow!😮this is CRAZY 🤪😳
Even the kid knew better ✨😂🤨🪀
@@gloriamartin6261 She did, my baby never even took a peek. She stood firm on her decision and she bring it up everytime we pack for a vacation. Now she read all the reviews beforenwe land lol. I think I may have traumatized my child smh!!
Dear Lamont, i just wanted to say that i do think you have a KIND HEART and i always love your stories even if i am from norway and we do not have the same things happening here in norway.... i hope you get this message. I think you are awsome....Roger, Norway age 52
Better than the sidewalk
Just be careful
Pass on that tour. !
I don't drink nor do drugs but I ride my bike in regular clothes for exercise
I rode my bike in my work clothes for 3 years . A hour ride to work on 3rd shift .I worked in a factory. My car was stolen.
Lol they had put u on the crackhead side lmao😅😂😂😂
I went to the planet fitness near me and expected to see what they show on tv and hopefully sign up for one of their classes.
There was a sign by the front desk that said they are doing their part and helping people who are displaced...and it looked like it.
Also, no classes and barely any people were actually working out. Just wandering around.
One guy came in, grabbed a juice from the refrigerator and headed inside.
Ours offers showers no questions asked.
Semi broke down and had to stay at a motel six only place the company would pay weed smoke and gang rap went to the manager and he moved and said I had the wrong room . The window had bullet proof glass for the manager. Never slept dangerous as hell . California is bad news for that renting on vouchers from the state .
Lamont. You should start doing interviews fr...u are very easy to talk to, straight forward and also hilarious.
you are fine af
You know I've been following you for a long time and I really enjoy your content I really do it's good to have a sense of humor however laughing about the homeless situation even though yeah it is kind of strange how the hotels are moving these days but it's pretty much all over now I mean homelessness is on another level these days and unfortunately these people cannot help it and I'm not talking about those it's been in the street on drugs I'm talking about legitimate people that lost their housing I just don't see any humor in it, have a nice day
Lamont poking a stick at the homeless 🦯
And he sleeps in his car 😅
I laughed through this whole video 😅
California and Washington TLA ❤️
Hey Lamont you are homeless, they should let you stay there for free!
Lamont shouldn't talk about the homeless because he looks like one of them.
Great video! Omg can't believe u had 2 pay 100 for that!😢 Yuk!
That’s our government 😂😂
Very crazy video but funny stay safe out there Lamont on the run
