      You have to enter 55555 - 0 / 55555 first (but don't hit the = sign yet). So your screen still shows five 5's on it. Now, by swiping the first 5 on the screen to the left, it seems it's removing the leftmost 5 (however, it's actually removing the rightmost 5). Repeat this 3 more times until the fourth 5 is removed, so that only one 5 is left on the screen. Now, when he told her to throw the four invisible 5's back to the screen, he's actually pressing the = sign to have the five 5's show up. That is because 55555 - 0/5 = 55555. Now, you might wonder if you use other numbers, for example, 12345 - 0 / 12345, will it have the same effect? The answer is no. If you use 12345 - 0 / 12345 with 12345 showing on the screen, by swiping the 1 to the left, the calculator is actually removing the 5. So 1234 is left on the screen. You can see the 1234 shift to the right since the 5 is removed. So this does not produce the same effect as the number 55555 because when all digits are 5, it doesn't seem the digits are shifted. Now, what about if you use six 6's instead of five 5's. That is, if you enter 666666 - 0 / 666666, what will happen? When you enter the sixth 6, the digits of 666666 will look slightly smaller than as the digits of 66666. So when you swiping the first 6 to the left, one 6 is remove, but the five remaining 6's will now look slightly larger than before, so again it doesn't produce the same effect as the five 5's in 55555, because the size of the digits of the 5's doesn't change. In summary, as long as you use five digits and all the digits are the same, for example, 11111 - 0 / 11111 or 88888 - 0 / 88888, it will produce the same effect as if you use five 5's.

    • @hansmikesen6355
      @hansmikesen6355 Před 15 dny

      @@jonathansam6970it's actually 55555 - 0 / 5 but it doesn't matter because of PEDMAS: 55555 - 0 / 5 = 55555 - (0 / 5) = 55555 - 0 = 55555

    • @jimz011
      @jimz011 Před 3 dny

      @@jonathansam6970 you have to multiply and divide first before any substractions. So basically you should see it like this: 55555-(0÷55555). That would lead to 55555 - 0 = 55555.
