    @DRCRailroard Před měsícem

    Way to go, Dave, you got some really nice additions for your layout. The switcher is really neat and looks like it will be a lot of fun. I feel a little sorry for the poor guy you robbed. The grain elevator is the model I referred to from another video suggesting to use it for a grain mill by adding a powered paddle wheel and placing it at the stream. I have the same model and custom painted it and weathered the roof panels to look like rusted corrugated metal. I primed them with Krylon's flat grey primer, and I used the Americana DecoArt craft paints and sponge painted Grey Sky and Zinc for metal and sponge painted the Burt Umber for dark rust on the edges and daubed Cinnamon stick or Burnt Sienna over the top for light rust. Always use matte finishes for a realistic natural finish. Plastic structures need to be primed with flat spray paint or Dullcote before painting with acrylics, or the paint will bead up and not stick to the surface and will scratch or rub off easily after it dries. I used the 7-19 volt AC/DC Evan Designs SMD in the top of the elevator and a couple of their led gooseneck lamps above the loading ramp doors. It looks great lit up. You can google and print off vintage signs on standard printer paper and weather them with sandpaper by lightly sanding the front and back to make weathered looking painted on ghost signs or put them on cardstock and paint the edges with burnt umber and dry sponge paint the face with burt umber and cinnamon stick to make weathered looking metal signs. The signs can easily be applied using Elmer's glue or matte mediums. The thinner you sand them, the better they will conform to the texture of the surface their glued to and will look like faded painted on signs. The glue, or especially the matte medium, will dry flat and clear. It's OK if you sand too thin in places it will only add to the weathered effects. Instead of sanding the back, you can also lightly scrape to shave thin with an x-acto knife. Have fun practicing on several types to hone your skills. They're essentially free. You can get pretty good at it with practice, and it gives the structures some character. I made mine a CO-OP and I also have a Valley Feed and Seed store across from the elevator. Trainz sells the Lionel diecast grain tractor trailers with the tarp covered grain trailers.

    Every train haul, is a great train haul. I love that little 0-4-0 switcher by K-Line you bought. It reminds me of my MPC #6-8506. You showcases that one in one of your videos, and I was hooked. I had to get one. I love that little thing. Now you purchased this one, and I like that one too. Time for me to do some researching again. I love switch engines in a yard. They’re so maneuverable. Wow Dave, really nice items especially the K-line 0-4-0. I'm confident that you can do something creative with that big grain structure and those 2 articulated AF shells. Judging from what I see on Ebay you did quite well price wise on the K-Line with TMCC, sounds & smoke, especially considering no shipping. Dave, that Pennsy 0-4-0 was a steal at $150! Well done! It'll be just the thing for local deliveries on your layout where the big guys can't go. And that grain elevator for $5? Absolutely the thing for a metamorphosis into a coaling tower.
