  • Hello, everyone. My name is Enrique, and today I want to share my deeply personal journey of overcoming mental health issues and alcoholism. Four years ago, during the height of the pandemic, I hit rock bottom. I found accountability and ultimately discovered a path to healing and growth.
Mental health issues, depression, and alcoholism have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've seen firsthand the devastating impact they can have, especially after losing my brother to these struggles. Despite my challenges, I have achieved many things I'm proud of, including opening my own business and leading efforts to elect Tony Evers as Governor.
In 2020, my mental health spiraled out of control, leading me deeper into alcoholism until I hit rock bottom with a DUI. This was my wake-up call. Through accountability, support groups, and a commitment to self-care and mental health education, I began to turn my life around. Regular exercise and connecting with a supportive community became the cornerstones of my recovery.
Now, I'm committed to growth and advocacy, especially for men dealing with similar issues. With only a third of men diagnosed with mental health disorders receiving treatment, and millions living with undiagnosed conditions, it's crucial to address stigma, improve access to care, and encourage men to seek help.
By sharing my story, I hope to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and normalize conversations about mental health. Together, we can influence policy changes, increase funding for mental health services, and create more supportive family environments.
Empathy towards those with mental health issues is essential for creating a supportive, inclusive, and compassionate society. Thank you for listening to my story. I hope it inspires you to support those around you who may be struggling. Together, we can create a healthier, more empathetic world.
