They eschewed flute cadenza - that’s pretty bold of them, particularly in Italy. Love her singing. I’m very glad that she getting recognition from such an knowledgeable audience.
@@-giakhanh--kayden-8337 I agree, but it is bold. I think Chailly likes performing opening night performances as the operas were 'originally intended,' or at least as close to the original versions as possible. His Tosca with Netrebko from a few years ago included a number of passages that are interesting to hear, but were rightfully cut by Puccini.
@@ER1CwC yes. or maybe the flutist wanted to flex technical skills. do other solo instruments like piano and violin go well with the cadenza? i dont know much. also i do like anna Netrebko. very nice soprano too
@@ngenzemsh8825 Usually, the cadenza is done with a flute. Originally, it was performed with glass harmonica actually; there are some examples on CZcams. It's supposed to be a symbol of Lucia's madness. But flautists (and flutes) are more readily available, and glass harmonicas can't play as quickly as flutes.
To say that there is only one version of an artistic work is illogical. Especially since Ms. Oropesa is arguably of more firm technical footing in this rep.
at 3:25 - what gorgeous flute and clarinet blending! It almost sounds like a different third instrument that doesn’t exist. Seriously incredible playing together, especially the flutist’s control of the vibrato to match the clarinet. Does anyone know who these two performers are? I know this production is from La Scala but that’s about all I have so far. Lisette is perfection throughout, as always!

Ahhhh really pale, not in the character except for the programmed jerky movements… No Eb in the first half? Don’t do the role.. Already a wobble on the high Bb? And not much power in the Eb? She should avoid this( and god forbid, Norma), and stick to girlie soprano roles…
The Eflat6 is not in the original score. Lucia wasn't composed for a coloratura soprano. In the original score, there are a couple of C6 and a C#6. Well, within the voice of a full lyric or dramatic soprano
Lisette sang Lucia this way because that's LA SCALA required. For this production, LA SCALA required the singers to sing the music come scritto, using Donizetti's original version. LA SCALA did not allow any changes, except in a few areas (such as the high E-flat at the end of SPARGI).

The most complete and perfect version of this I've ever heard! The variations are original and so interesting! Complimenti per La Scala!
Vergessen wir nicht Edita Gruberova!
Mostly she doesn't sing any variations - just what is written in the score. She and the Conductor have eschewed the traditional higher interpolations.
Wonderful Lisette Oropesa with her glorious crystal clear but warm soprano and her being, not playing Lucia!!!❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏
The character is beautifully observed. Great clarity of sound. Thank you.
Most beautiful voice I've ever heard
Despite her accomplishments, the most underrated soprano today. She is the best of the best of the best.

It is in my opinion such a disappointment, considering it's the crowning jewel for the soprano

She is a tour de force. Bravissima!
Sublime. As usual. Today I'll see Her at Teatro Real.
How was she?
Fabulous...Brava!!!!!
Sublime
You can hear the glass harmonica throughout the mad scene
Love it. Like on Sills recording.
It's wonderful. Just saw her in Paris as Cleopatra. Fantastic.
You know a performer is great when the Callas admirers come out to criticize. Human nature I'm afraid. 🙏
Callas, Berlin 1955, nothing else !
Well there has to be something else or we close all the opera houses. 👍😁❤️

Interesting approach. She's vocally incredible but this feels like Pucini's version, if he had written Lucia....
Corretta non oltre
Ma per favore.......

Mah
Imbarazzante! 😂😂😂
Impressive if a little hard driven
Disappointed
Troppo vibrato, intonazione precaria, sovracuti omessi. Nemmeno una Lucia mediocre.
What a horrible production. The floor, the blood- egh!
