  • A documentary covering the final year of the countdown period to the Hong-Kong hand-over. These films watch events unfold through the eyes of local people. They represent the different communities and the different social strata of Hong Kong - from street people to tycoons, from expatriates to the new Chinese administrators. In so doing we make this a personalised story instead of a political one. By getting to know these we understand the impact of the transition on a human scale. -

All of our fears about Hong Kong being taken by China came true, I just didn't think it would have happened this quickly. I joined the Royal Hong Kong Police in 1994 and served up until the handover, we were pre warned what was about to happen and what would happen especially within the police force. I was forced to flee Hong Kong in late 2019 after being arrested for unlawful assembly and I haven't been back ever since. Its heartbreaking to see what has now happened in Hong Kong only 25 years after the handover I would like to think that there is still hope for Hong Kong, my home and I pray I can return one day, but I think its already crossed the line of no return. ❤️‍🩹

Hong Kong founded more than 100 years and indeed it take less than 3 years to taken down our hardly developed freedom and the CCP controlled gov declare the 2019 pro-democracy movement as a revolution and totally ignored their allowance of police brutality , turning the rule of law into rule by law.
As a HongKonger and also a libertarian will never forget and forgive what happened, this is part of our History which we wrote in pain, regret and anger.

A China-born in Gingle, Guilin, Guangxi province in 1944 where my medical father from Hong Kong University (HKU) was assisting the Chinese Red Cross during the War. My father sent me to 3 schools in HK from 1956-65 with the Chairman of Hang Seng Bank as my guarantor. My father changed my citizenship to Thai in 1965 (due to so much problems with a Taiwanese Passport) before going to college in America.
I have learned the History of HK since the 2 Opium Wars when the weak Chinese government had to allow the British Empire to annex HK to be its Opium Trading post.
