  • I removed a yellow-vented hornet(Vespa analis) nest and fed it to my silkie chickens.

If a chicken really wanted to, it would make you eat those words. They are badass, and they taste even better. Do not disrespect where much of our agriculture comes from. Without these animals to domesticate and farm, we would not exist as a civilization. I'm not saying we should worship chickens, but disregarding their heritage is no less than forsaking ours

    Whacking the wasps like that reminded me of this..
    I remember when we used to have hornet nests in our backyard. There would be some in our back porch and I was too afraid to go out there. My dad used the same tennis racket and he would always say “time to play some tennis” and he whacked allllll the wasps….
    My dad just got sick of it and went to Walmart to buy wasp venom :/

      In D wird der THW oder die Feuerwehr geholt, das Nest schonend abgenommen und in freier Natur ausgesetzt, da Hornissen unter Naturschutz stehen, denn sie sind sehr nützlich. Für Amerikaner gilt das nicht. Sie basteln schon an einer Hornissen-Atombombe.

      in domestic flies the larvae can reach 0.5 inches long while the adult fly is usually just 0.1-0.2 inches long... imagine 2 or 3 meters tall babies insice cells or underground, or inside corpses... Nature is kinda eerie sometimes

      They are absolutely gorgeous and unique everytime. I was in Africa and a huge nest was built behind the house we were staying in. It was just hanging there when I arrived and 3 days in I asked what that beautiful thing is and he said "oh its hornets nothing much" 💀 The locals just leave them alone and no one gets attacked. Walked few miles down river and there was another one entirely different and green.
