So what exactly happened? Alfred ran away, met a grumpy man, pissed at a guy in a bowler hat because their new loco was stolen or something, flashing lights, bowler hat man is in half, and the grumpy man is gone. I love this series, I really do, but sometimes it's confusing, but I just have to go along with whatever happens.

I’ll paraphrase it
So Alfred went this workshop that is well known for cheaply rebuilding engines
and the man is Henry’s builder and is also who Henry is named after The man in the bowler hat is the man who stole the plans that were used to build Henry
The flashing lights is Henry gaining sentience

... I watched this in 2x speed, I think I got it down pretty well
It was a dark and quiet night at Doncaster Works, a little _Too, Quiet_
what they didn't know was that a spy had snuck in, plotting against Sir Gresely, feeding off of his designs, _a blueprint for the superiors_
The thief stole a design, in the midst had swiped something that know only led to a certain engine's conceivance, The men in this tenebrous facility set their efforts on this peculiar engine design at once
Unfortunately, this insufficient site didn't have the funding to produce such a tender.
However, Fortunately, on the Great Northern Railway, a sterling single had a catastrophic collision.
-The class had been decommissioned 3-5 years prior and with an excuse to scrap the engine, a high possibility, this is the fate, of the Single-
With a newly aquired, and I shall add, easily aquired tender, the men were ready to finish, what would soon be, a white elephant.
Meanwhile on Sodor, a horrid engine with no name, yet a number, 98462 was sent to a strange railway, meeting with an Engine with a twisted fate.
_All of a sudden, there was a _*_ringing, a flashing, a shaking,_*_ and with an opening of his eyes, Henry, had entered the world._
98462, who was equally, dazed and bewildered, had -killed- Henry's builders, unfortunately, Henry, the inccent 5-second old- engine he was, tried to introduce himself to the loathed 98462
