Mahfuz Anam is one of Bangladesh's most respected journalists. The Editor of the Daily Star rubbishes reports of Pakistan's ISI having a link to street protests that toppled the Sheikh Hasina government. As PM Narendra Modi asks Mohd Yunus, the head of the Interim government in Bangladesh to "ensure protection of Hindus and other religious minorities" Anam says he is "almost ashamed" at the violence that has been targeted at minorities since the fall of the government. But he says "this does not capture the essence of the people of Bangladesh .. just like when attacks take places on muslims in India it does not capture the essence of India or her people." Will Sheik Hasina return to Bangladesh as suggested by her son? Anam responds in this conversation with Barkha Dutt

Hindu reduced from 33% to 7%. And my grandfather had to migrate from East Bengal to India in early 40's and he died lamenting it. So, we know a thing or two what Bangladesh is. And, probably, without whole hearted selfless support of India in 1971, they would have continued to be the slaves of West Pakistan, till today.

If those who are inciting communal violence against minority communities, specially Hindus, are Anti-nationalists and not true Bangladeshis. Then, will the editor and through him, the larger student protest body and members of the interim government identify them, take action against such people/bodies, and bring justice to the victims of communal violence?
I'm asking this because nobody has said a work more than condemnation and then blaming it on others that they don't understand Bangladeshi politics, culture and social fabric.
This is so bizarre. You do things, abd then don't own it!

He is emphasising that it is only the fringe element in Bangalesh which is targeting the Hindus. Then how come the minority population and temple count in Bangladesh and Pakistan is dropping every second whereas the minority population in India is growing every year.
We must accept that India is secular only because it is still a Hindu majority state. And the narrative about India and Bangladesh can never be on similar lines.

Hifazate Islam leader is a member of the governing council, this organisation is an extremely communal one and to expect any sense and sanity from them is a huge mistake. This interview is meant for providing a pro jihadi editor a platform by a discredited Indian journalist. The UN has expressed concerns on the happenings, particularly killing of Hindu minority in Bangladesh. Muhammad Younus is going to get vastly discredited at the end but he does not realise it presently.

First time the viewers may be finding Barkha not using this as a golden opportunity to throw stones at Amit, Narendra and the Bharath government. She limited the talk to the point without deviating into Bharath bashing in which she is a seasoned expert. Those who viewed this video to see something bi*chy must have got disappointed. Just my humble opinion.
