I think I have adhd but I don't know because I was never diagnosed . When ever I lookup symptoms I always have most of them if not all . It's very hard for me to sit still and remember such simple stuff, I can't understand directions that are over a sentence . I can read something and 5 seconds later forget what I just read . I have a hard problem focusing on school work . I have a hard time handing it on in time . I always butt into other things that I shouldn't have . It's very hard for me to ignore the stuff around me . This is why I think I have add but I've never been diagnosed

I’ve discovered I can’t get anything done unless I’m listening to music. I can’t clean my house because I feel overwhelmed by all the tasks at hand but for some reason having music on helps me have something secondary to focus on and I can be more productive. Same with cooking or whatever else I’m trying to accomplish. If I’m having a conversation I have to be fidgeting in some way to be able to also try and stay focused on who I’m talking to. So many other things.

My 8th grade teacher had ADHD and it was a gifted class. So we got off topic a lot. I remember during Algebra we got off topic and started talking about college level math as a class. And then in science one student was talking to him about nuclear bombs and how they worked/were made and comparing them to atom bombs. English was one of the most sidetracted subjects cause of how diverse it can get. So we'd end up talking about Pokémon or pretty much anything that someone in the class found interesting. It was fun. One of my favorite teachers.

@JAmes2007 i struggle very much so in class room situations, i always have even through my high school. Im not 100% sure wether i have adhd or not, but i suffer from alot of the symptons. Ive seen a psychiatrist and he's got me on modafinil, i honestly dont notice anything from it. And yea he never really told me if i had adhd add or not.
With what you just told me there i can relate very much, one on one im pretty good at listening, unless of course it really doesnt interest me, and then i tend to zone out.
But in a group classroom environment, im hopeless, in one ear out the other.
But when its something i do enjoy, and can relate to people with, such as sport, im a pretty good at.
Problem being, i dont get paid to play sports, so its not a career option for me unfortunately.

ADHD is a spectrum disorder, everyone's ADHD is different. You are not simply inattentive or hyperactive, just probably more predominantly inattentive. You will display some symptoms of hyperactivity, whether you realize or not.

    • @Mastermint
      @Mastermint Před 5 lety +3

@@mrpk646 yeah. I'm the predominantly innatentive, but I fidget quite a and I can't stop dancing on the same spot when I have to stand for too long. It's great for rocking my niece to sleep, so all good?
other than this, I'm pretty much a slug

    • @mrpk646
      @mrpk646 Před 4 lety

@TuckerFearnBentley You are misinformed; ASD is absolutely a spectrum disorder, It's in the name.... Autism spectrum disorder 🤦‍♂️
Asperger's is no longer an officially attainable diagnosis. As of 2013 Aspergers and autism disorder were essentially merged into one diagnosis. The two (Aspergers and Autism disorder were separate diagnoses Pre-2013) however were folded into one, now known as Autism spectrum disorder.
      Hopefully that's coherent :)
Now as for ADHD, I can't state this as factual (that it's a spectrum disorder) because I don't have any sources to back myself and can't be bothered to look, so we'll call it a theory. However it's a theory/thought process based upon common sense.
These are "disabilities/conditions" whatever you want to word them as, that affect the way a person lives their life/thinks/feels etc. etc. therefore obviously they're going to be different person to person If the cause is neurological/genetic based, due to the nature of neuroplasticity + individuality.
The criteria for a diagnosis is the same for everyone because its an identification tool used to detect clear indications in the differences between your neurotypical person and an atypical person who has the disorder. The criteria of an ADHD/ASD diagnosis are not designed however, to detect the differences between people that are already known to have the overarching diagnoses. ASD will have a more in depth, drawn out diagnostic process "categorising" you somewhere along the spectrum to determine whether your high/low functioning etc. and to indicate what kind of support is needed for you as an individual for the future.
      ADHD PI (Predominantly inattentive)
      ADHD PH (Predominantly hyperactive/impulsive).
These are part of the same disorder, which would go under an ADHD diagnosis.
The word predominantly infers that the "type" (PI/PH) is simply the side of the spectrum your ADHD is biased to in the way it is expressed. It does not mean that there are different types. Simply different ratio's of specific traits. NOT Different spectrum's entirely lol.
Go look it up, it stands for predominantly inattentive ADHD, Also known as "ADD" which is not an official diagnosis. There is IMO one type of ADHD, which is a spectrum disorder, meaning people with the diagnosis will show similar general traits however there are differences between the way ADHD affects them, because of individuality. No one's brain is wired the same, and therefore you've got different groundwork for ADHD to play with, meaning it is displayed differently between people. The disorder itself is the same however.
If you were to read my initial comment again, you'd see that I said most people are likely PREDOMINANTLY more PI or PH, I did not say that everyone's ADHD is completely different, simply that everyone's got different balances of the same disorder and may not notice their subdominant traits. Hence why some people think they're inattentive or hyperactive. You may be more one or the other but you'll likely have traits of both in your behaviour/personality/though process.
This was poorly written tbh I'm not great at getting my thoughts out in a linear, simple format, so apologies for that. Hopefully it's understandable and not just waffle. I am aware I said the same thing multiple times I'm just making sure the point is understood.

“Just try harder to focus!” 🙄😥 although one of my natural coping mechanisms has been , like with the fidget spinners (which have saved me from being a much more dangerous driver btw) I can do 2 conversations at once better if they don’t talk over one another. Omgs though the forgetful thing yes, the switching activities I can focus on a big thing say cleaning the house but the individual tasks omgs i leave water running-wet rags on tables etc. your videos always make me so happy I’ve been diagnosed right with adhd yet so so sad that people refuse to allow those with invisible illnesses the extra they need. People become so annoyed with me because i have to hear things three times to get the first second and third part and then a moment to string them together. And I don’t shut up either. Sorry. I don’t have a community here and many MANY people, here in the USA are “misdiagnosed” with ADHD to be able to get the drugs and since capitalism is so intertwined with our health care system, and because our major GDP is pharmaceuticals I meet too too many people who have “add/adhd”. So I ask them well does adderal “slow you down” and if they say yes instead of something to the effect of “no it allows me to focus on one thing” that’s how I know they just like speed, and are one of the bad guys. I don’t condone giving children amphetamines anyway because I am of the conviction that the companies do this intentionally instead of prescribing behavior therapy to develop coping skills or prevent the toys like the spinners from being distributed with out a RX because they want to secure a massive/manic/bi polar depressive later in life. If you look into what consistent and long term use of amphetamines does to the brain it literally stops producing the chemicals the right way permanently, moreover the effects on the heart are insane too!!! , so then you need another pill because these doctors and companies can’t put forth a bit more effort aside from tossing a narcotic at a kid which is used not to treat it but to attain its side effect of hyper focus, I’m not saying it’s not necessary some times but man, I am more messed up because I trusted my doctors and we don’t teach and encourage patients and understanding in our societies but rather oppress and stereotype the disabled. I’m so sad. Anyway, thank you for being out here for me to “come home to”. I still cannot find anywhere to get screened for adult ASD. Recently my state and country elected business men to my governments and strangely enough the funding for those kinds of places has been cut off. Freaking weird coincidence huh? Smh I just want to know so I can begin to structure my healthcare and therapy around the right maladies so maybe I’m not is no much pain and so alone and feel so help and hopeless. Thank you again darling. You give me the faith that I can do this at times. The community to know I’m not alone, and the strength to keep fighting.

And whenever I’ve gotta do something that takes a long time such as: vacuuming, cleaning, editing something, or something like that, I usually go to go to the bathroom or something and then I completely forget I was supposed to do it and end up going on my phone until my mom or dad reminds me then I feel stupid for forgetting, either that or I see something I wanna do while cleaning or something then I end up getting carried away doing the other thing for like an hour until I’m reminded again,
I also fidget with my clothes and blanket and fingers and stuff while doing really anything
And I interrupt a lot on accident

Soo I am not sure if I have ADHD but here are some things that make me think I do have ADHD:
    1. I always hated school books, never read them will never read them. after 1 paragraph I am bored or zooming into another thought that has nothing to do with the subject even if I can look concentrated from distance, I have to read a line/paragraph atleast 10 times, to truly absorb it, cus my mind is never set there. Meanwhile when I read philosophy, religion or fantasy books, I am binge reading. I know I read a book at 600 pages in 2 days with 5 hours of sleep. thats how obsessed I get about it.
    2. I interrupt people when talking because I am so extremely passionate about explaining my side of the story and they think of me as an arrogant prick when in fact I just cant controll the urges and have to let it out.
    3. if I get bored in a class I constantly either shake my legs , I change sitting positions atleast 20 times and breath deep alot, I focus on the weirdest things that has nothing to do with the subject. Like today for example, teacher was so boring that I found myself focusing on a womans fat belly, and theres nothing wrong with fat bellies, but I just dont know why I was so intensely focused on that. Like I was really zoomed out.
    4. I hate public transportation because there are so many people talking and when people talk too much, I lose focus. I get extremely overwhelmed. and I remember myself crying one time at the train because everyone was talking so loudly, I Was constantly shaking my legs, couldnt sit still and just wanted to get out of there.
    5. I really dont know how to controll emotions. I dont know how to handle them. love relationships have always been hard for me, only a very empathetic and understanding person can see why I am acting the way I am, which is impulsive reactions, and thats just I cant controll it. when Im angry, it just comes out. when Im said, it just comes out. and its intense.
    6. When I get too passionate about something people think I am aggressive. its only because I get so ambitious about doing this thing .
    7. I have always felt misunderstood my whole life and therefor prefer being a loner, cus it hurts to be misunderstood.
    8. I dont have 1 career plan, I have 10. I have 20, I have 30. I cant live a boring life, that would kill me. I am an extremely easily bored person.
thats it for today I guess, does it sounds like ADHD ? I hope you can let me know. :)

I'm an adult now, in the usa. I'm from the "hood" and just a couple days ago I saw a video mention postural sway and it being associated with adhd. I've always thought maybe I have adhd, but it's also something that so many claim to have. So many falsely claim it just because they like doing stuff like that, we all know what im talking about. My attention span is bad, I'm pretty sure I have some dyslexia. I have many of these symptoms, the staying on tasks and what not but so many ppl have that issue and blame it on adhd when they dont have it. So this always made me think "nah, I don't have anything". Im an introvert but i can get chatty where ill start over talking. This is just common stuff ppl will claim, especially some ppl even claim adhd is made up. BUT when I saw the postural sway, something I never knew about, said to be another symptom of adhd. That solidified it for me a bit more that I think I have adhd because I've been walking like that since I can remember. I didn't know there was term for it and actually looked at medically.
I saw a lot of ppl trying to rag on the video and play down the walking as nothing special and that it's just what lazy ppl do. Or that everyone does it when both are false.
Growing up in the usa and being from "the hood" there's many like me who probably have something and won't ever know because we never got diagnosed. Since it's all so expensive. And all of us have just cope with what we have, no medication. We don't know we have something, but many of us do.

I can relate to the changing activity one because I'll be watching CZcams videos and most of the time I only watch the beginning of the video, then switch, then switch, then switch, for homework I barely start on one assignment then I switch, and switch, and so on and so on

I always get distracted when someone is explaining me something, even if I take notes, I always miss something, I get irritated, frustrated and stressed, this is a patter that have been repeating my whole life, and I lost confidence really quick, and mortified all the time, that's the reason why I haven't been successful in life.

I should be doing work but I'm on my phone. Even with parental locks I've set for myself. I sometimes just sit here staring at my work or I sit at a meal and don't eat it or I read the same page over and over. Or I repeat tasks over and over. Or I completely forget things as if they didn't happen. ADHD +autism+ chronic illness is a strange foggy existence. But I'm trying my best :)! Thanks for the videos! I really enjoy them.

the one thing i find annoying is that i relate to so many of these comments and symptoms, and yet my mum doesn’t think i have it because people with adhd are ‘uncontrollable’. but one google search actually proves that adhd is a lot harder to find in females than it is in males, as they aren’t seen as likely to have it so they have to hide the symptoms (for me, things like fidgeting, stuttering, impulses and some random uncontrollable movements). i have so many symptoms and have gotten extremely high scores on adhd tests (not using it as a diagnosis though), but i’m still anxious talking about it with my doctor/psychologist because i feel like i’m faking it or i can’t have it because that’s what i’ve been taught.

Easily distracted check. Cant small talk check. Forgetful check. Losing things check. Keep changing tasks - check. Fidgeting - check. Get intense about topics I'm passionate about - check. One thing I don't do is interrupt conversations.

Thanks for this video! I'm seeing a lot of connections with your list and what my son does (1-6, 8-10). We want to help our son out in school and we're looking to review him with our pediatrician as soon as we can. His actions also coincide with some of the ASD symptoms you listed in another video. I'm also wondering about myself since these are issues we never discussed while I was younger, yet they're a constant in my adult life. My parents always chalked it up to being active and young, but I'm in my late 30s. I'm due for examination, too. Thanks :)

I can't do my homework. First the homework is repetitive, boring and long af so it's just so hard to sit and start doing it. But when I finally can sit and start doing it i see something that's not clean enough or messy so i start cleaning it. After grabbing something to clean in the kitchen, drinking water, and staring at the floor thinking "What was I going to do?" I finally come back to my room, start cleaning the desk or whatever. But then I think "oh, let me put some music" so i go to grab my phone only to see that it's not there. I go back to the living room to see if it's there but i see that the cat's water is empty so i refill it, but while refilling it I'm like "I'm going to check if the dogs have water" so i go to open the door only to see that i don't know where the keys are. So i start looking for the phone but then i want to pee, I go to the bathroom and my phone is there. By looking at the phone i remember that i wanted music so i pee and then come back to the room. Put some music, keep cleaning and after thinking that it's clean enough i go to look at the hour. I spent hours cleaning my room. I sit again, look for my pen and realize that i don't really have decorations in my desk. So i start looking for things in google, but i get tired of sitting after a couple of hours so i go back to my bed. But then i remember some random star wars reference and look for the scene on youtube. And that's how I finally forget that i have to do my homework.
    (This happened yesterday:)

First I'd like to share, the USA news just recently stated, scientific studies show > intense time online is causing ADHD in young children, it permanently rewires the brain. next, I wanted to ask you, is there anything you do to calm down your nervous system, outside of medication, such as yoga, meditation or taking fish oil? Do u have experience with anything that does definitely work? Please share. Lastly, I went to a conference on ADHD, the speaker shared how to help children w ADHD focus, to use it an educational teaching setting . Steps: 1) with arms stretched straight out at your side , spin in one direction, slowly (to not get dizzy), in circles, about 12 times, 2)stop. then reverse and spin 12 times in the opposite direction. 3)Then stop. This exercise is suppose to balance out the brain when it comes to ADHD, increase focus, and calm the nervous system. I'm all for anything that helps and is NOT involved with medication.

Oh God! So my 3 years old have most of these
He can talk for 10 minutes straight while playing with his fingers
Can't stay still what so ever
When ever he falls down he go back up like nothing happened to him
But what really shocked me is when I tool him to the zoo and he was feeding horses, zebra and all the big animal's without getting scared when all the kids are afraid over him 🥲
Idk if it's too early to judge him I'll keep searching
    Thanks for the video

When It comes to the exams, I'm the topper in my school. I received many awards as the most scored student in all subjects. But, I can't listen to others while they are talking. When I put all of my attention I also can't listen and respond to their commands properly. I'm 16 year old boy. Do I have ADHD?
