- A quick note...it has an actual mempo now not a cheap 300 mask...i'll post another one after it is done maybe. This video will be a little boaring...if you just want a quick walk around of the armor go to 4:20. Well, It took me a good 4-5 months to make this. I'm no expert on Samurai armor which probably means i shouldn't have attempted this haha, but oh well, I had the time and wanted something pretty for the corner of the room.
It's made out of a thermal plastic called styrine, and the rest is pretty much done the traditional way...there are several things here and there I "improvised" and "jimmy rigged" but all in all I think it turned out pretty good for a home made spare time project.
I used this website to help me with much of the process. www.sengokudaimyo.com/katchu/k... - Jak na to + styl
Thats just about one the most beautiful things ive ever seen somebody create.
Thanks!!!
@@seanhiggins704 Wow thanks for answering my comment bro. Do you have any video where you're wearing it? Would be awesome
@@youremybiggestfan I don't unfortunately. I originally did it as an art project. I think I may have put on a few too many pounds now to wear it haha. Thanks for the support though!
this looks better than some of the companies charging starting price at 1k. immense work wow.
I was an architecture student. But the years before that I was an Art student and Art is still what I love.
I've watched this hundreds of times and it never fails to amaze me. Keep it up!!!
Wow, very kind of you. Thanks a lot. Good luck on your own project!
Sean Higgins
If you mean my bow and arrow along with quiver made out of wood and natural cordage then I will 😄
Dang... what an armor. looks reallly good. Thanks for showing.
I would really really watch how you made this, this is beautiful!
That looks AMAZING you did a great job!!!
Thanks! I appreciate the support. It's a pretty long process but really rewarding. I really only used photo reference and one website exclusively for this project. The link is in the description. just hit 'show more' and you'll see the link at the bottom. Good luck!
this looks genuine, good job!
Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. Yeah I know what you mean about having the time and resources to do a project like this. I happened to be very lucky...doing an internship that didn't require very many hours when I started it. Without the mask, I think i ended up spending around 400 or 450. I'm absolutely sure though if I had thought it out, I could have spent only about 300.
Some really nice craftsmanship. The silk sleeves impressed me the most.
And the kabuto.... whew.... Really cool stuff!
Only one thing. It needs a groovy oni mustache, coz all cool samurai has big bushy mustaches on their armour.
It looks really good.
@ktvad2 thanks, I put a lot of work into it, glad it looks good. Yeah, your armors are pretty fun...looks like they are more for role playing or something..mine is definitely just decoration, but they're all fun to make, keep up the good work.
This is just stunning. I keep on coming back to this video because I’ve had a dream for about a year now to build my own set. Your combination of black and shimmering gold is kick ass. Very inspiring. Question, do you have a specific site or book that you went to to learn the traditional knot ties?
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words!
Excellent ! Indeed a great shape of crescent moon Tatemono.
I am impressed. Well done!!!!
@elesararwos very cool. I need to get my hands on some serious metal working tools so i can do dishing and some other cool stuff! Good luck, i'd love to see the progress!
Amazing suit of armor! Samurai armor rocks!
Wow, this is really amazing work, would love to see some how to vids.
I was just on that site trying to get started myself. Your build looks amazing. What tools did you use? Basic armorers stuff?
the best part is when hes like "Sexaayyh" haha i smiled :3
Beautiful work!
This is so cool. Good job.
oh my god it's so amazing! I have to make my own...
That's actually good and historical acurate. Nice job instant subed
Thanks man!
Sean Higgins was the main cap a construction helmet at some point?
I noticed a couple raised spots... was hoping to replicate what you’ve done here ( Kabuto only) for a decoration
Thanks, Yeah, you're absolutely right. The Wakiita was left out due to my lack of material, I may end up adding it in time, but for now, it's just an art piece. As for the lames being loose, I think part of that is that I am not a professional Yoroi builder, and the material was really thick and hard to get that precisely the same. Excuses, i know. Haha. Next one may turn out better, only time will tell. Thanks for the input.
awesome work. very awesome work...
The form of a helmet is like 伊達政宗 You are a wonderful craftsman.
Looks great! Fantastic detail. What is the black armor material made of?
great job! my granson's want me to make each of them a set now
This piece is beautiful. (O.O) Congratulations!
Beautiful work............gr8 job !........
yeah no worries. Best of luck to you! Make sure to put your efforts into looking at commercial plastic distributors and possibly at vacuum form plastic places to narrow your search down. I had to travel a little bit to find mine. and you should expect a 4'x8' of 1/8" sheet to cost between $60-100 US.
Thank you very much for the info. This stuff is very hard to find out there specifically that size in black I looked for them but found nothing. I will have to keep looking. Thank you very much
nice, thx for the reply. seems quite affordable to me. im looking foreward to have my personal yoroi standing around my tattoo shop soon:)
Looks nice, have any tutorial to make it..??
Great job on your armor! I was wondering were you got the Mask for your armor from?
Si reemplazas el plástico por cuero duro o carnaza endurecido por laca o resina, prácticamente tendrías una armadura samurai funcional del siglo XIII
Thanks you wery much for link in decription, i searched something like that so long:)
a really beautiful work of art, im thinking of building an authentic tokugawa armor for display(and to wear) what material did you use for the plating?
very nice armor, have you lacquered leather? whether you have a tutorial? ^^
that is talent men, nice job. and enjoy how yu described the parts.!
Hi. I need to attach Kusazuri to Yoroi. Can't insert "tails" to holes. How to do it? Thank you
Awesomeizing bro!
well it looks super good even though it look easy (relatively) not overly complicated but effective like real armor. but i want to know is can it take a hit?
@ninjaboyhiggins thankyou very much, I think that'll be very usefull...
can't wait for it
great.....
really great yoroi armor, hope to make it one soon...
do you have a tutorial how to make it? (step by step tutorial+material tips)
Very very very good!!!
Wow this is extraordinarily impressive O:
do you make upon request? My dojo would enjoy commissioning a work.
@mudbogz71 Thanks!! :D Glad you like it!
hey does anybody know where to get enough styrene for a project like this at a reasonable cost?
@elesararwos nice. how are you making the hotoke? I'm thinking of starting on another one some time soon.
i want to start making my own armor and i was wondering what sort of material would be easy to use to make a curved shape for the do and the curves on the helmet.
Hi could you tell me where you got your gold fixings, been trying everywhere.
the round metal things on the helmet look exactly like the doorknob on a folding door in my house
Stunning, If I knew where to start I would definatly have a crack at making a suit of armour like this! I'm going to be making a mempo for now though. If you ever do instructables I will definatly be checking them out! Just a few questions though, what material did you use for the armour plating and what was the helmet base? Thanks!
I'm uploading videos of tips and walkthrough about how to create your own one in my channel.Come by if you want ;)
Brett Schober
@elesararwos I actually got it for free from a friend that worked at a ice rink and they were the old laces for the skates that they didn't use anymore. I had to buy some since i ran out half way through, got the remainder at johanns fabrics as a big roll..they stuff looks almost exactly like a shoe lace!
Very good armor...
Really wanna make one for myself after i watched it!
did you use the correct braiding the 8 string round braiding also is there a tehen on the top of the helmet if so were did u get it from.
Do you have a diy video with the steps involved?
not sure if this is a question or a statement. Either way, it's not for sale, its a piece of artwork I did for myself. I love it and wouldn't sell it. Good luck shopping, i hope you can get a sweet kick 'A' set for yourself man.
in-sane ! i love it
might be swiping some of that helmet design for the set of samurai armor i'm making rn
@leonardbullhock Thanks again. I'm glad it didn't come out looking lame. I was really surprised at how few homemade armors i could find online as well.
now was it foam you had used for the chest plates?
Yoroi Where can I buy this?
Good Job!!!
very nice great craft blessings
what is the name of the material that you use to make the armor?its looks like its easy to cut
@xNiji !! Thanks!
Is it comfortable to wear?
Very well done my friend Im impresed
Do you have any guide/video on how you makde spome of the pieces?
Wow man... I want to make 2 samurai armors for me and my wife (we are using the same website) but man... That is something else. Really good armor, really difficult to make.
We are just trying to make some Dô Maru.
Im really happy to see a homemade Dô Yoroi.
I just have 2 questions, really.
1- How much did you spent on it?
2- How long did it took for you to start and finish it?
Thanks for reading this, man. And thanks for uploading the video.
Melanrick
thanks and good luck on your project. they take a lot of love and time but totally worth it when you finally finish it.
to answer your questions;
1) I think this project cost me about 300 or so. I made a lot of mistakes which cost me extra so I could probably do it again for 200 now.
2) I'm not 100% sure how long this took me. but id guess around 100-200 hours or so. hard to say since it was just a little here and there.
thanks. hope you're turn out well!
Hey how did it go?
@@georgsarlin7894 Did not happened.
Is that one of the mask from the movie 300
Hey i need help, when i print the Dô PDF i comes really small, what i have to do, i don't know how to scale it right could anyone help me please??
How you did made the Mempo? and where you get the bronze details of the Kabuto? The Yoroi looks preeety good, I mean, you wrote this Yoroi it's a home made armor don't they.
nice job!
Outstanding job and it looks very cool! Looks like the Kill Bill Hatori Hanzo sword :)
Thats beacuse it IS the kill bill sword.
Where did you buy the armour? To put
Just wandering how did u make the amour I'm interested because well u know London has like an day where u can dress as any anima characters and stuff I was thinking on going there as a saumiura monster from yugioh but I would like to know how to make it so I can make it for when I go to the place just need to know how to make the armour please tell me how thanks from megajayrules .
wow 0.o so Cool ! good job.I want it.
Cool, but how about a haramaki or do-maru?
Cool! Have you wore this out anywhere yet?
Awesome job! :D
WTF?! I already made a samurai armor, now when i see that i feel like mine sucks gg for it ! :)
haha, thanks man. don't feel bad. This took a stupid amount of time.
@@seanhiggins704 i tried to made a heavy do maru, that copied a roblox game lol
@ninjaboyhiggins is it battle ready?
hi im nika from georgia... i love your work man its fantastic.... can you tell me the name of that material you used and how i have to heat it at home... with what i have to heat it?
I got it from a place in Idaho falls called Idaho Plastics. It was either 1/8" or 1/4" thick...it's been a little while now since I bought it...From memory, my guess is it's definitely 1/8" thick..which is Definitely thick enough. I wouldn't recommend anything thinner than that however.
another thing that might get people buying is like the imitation of a damiyo armor from the sengoku jidai like oda nobunaga or maybe date masamune or maybe even tokugawa ieyasu s armor but still it is your choice
@TheFrostedLlama haha, you said a mouth full! i'm sure if i did it a second time it wouldn't be as hard but..yeah. thanks for the words!
how did you tie the armor together?
and how do you make the "menate" and attach the "sode"(exuse spelling, dont know japanese)
what was the thickness of the styrene that you used?
@xINVISIGOTHx haha yeah, like i said, its almost all improvised, I think those actually are drawer pulls haha. We did some etching on them with a really high RPM dremal.
Nice job, very impressive for an art piece. How long did this armor take you to create?
could you make a full tutorial on how u made this
how much would it be to order one off of ya
Thank you man! ;) you are very good
