I liked Shubble's take on asexuality, and it was also sort of validating. Asexuality is not a part of the heterosexual experience, so it's still LGBTQ+. As an asexual, sometimes I don't feel connected to the LGBTQ+ or heterosexuals, so I'm sort of left in limbo where no one really understands my experience. I'm glad they put her on the panel too :)

@@certifiednerd542, yeah personally I find being on ace TikTok is soooo validating and so accepting. It’s so nice to just see yourself in others and be able to see discussions on things
as an ace as well, I completely agree with you on this. Especially in the beginning of figuring out what I was I didn't feel enough a part of lgbtq community to identify with that. But also I can't fully relate to straight people when they start talking about more intimate stuff or that someone is hot or something. I don't really watch shelby's content but I have so much respect for her. Watching her talk about asexuality on anthony's video really made me fully realize because I was like dang I relate to everything she said. It is very difficult to find any asexual representation especially other straight asexuals. Like even MCC pride's ace themed ace race made me excited bc of that sliver of rep. And I completely agree with the rest of the comments in the lack of trans rep here I was actually expecting a trans creator on this panel more than I was expecting an ace creator.
People who say that aroace folks don't belong in the LGBTQ+ community can step on a Lego. You all experience discrimination and bigotry too, and asexuality has been a part of the modern gay rights movement since its early days. You are a part of the community, plain and simple, and it sucks that some people have gotten it in their heads that they get to determine who does and doesn't belong. (Trans people have been facing this issue as well, it's very disheartening.)

i know that some people probably wouldnt be that respectful and would kinda laugh or interrupt them so i find it meaningful that theyre listening [and even if they werent, appreciate that theyre being quiet for the ones who are]
The video game representation question reminded me of when I was playing Stardew Valley, and I finally switched my character’s name and gender at the wizard tower. I RAN to town to hear my new name said in a sentence, but the game hadn’t processed what I had done yet. So I went up to Sam, and he said “hey DEADNAME! How’s farming going?” I literally cried a bit😂😂😂

The little conversations Niki and Ranboo were having were really cute, it honestly got my shortass attention span through the whole video
I live in an extremely homophobic home (to the point where if I was to come out, well.. homelessness is a high possibility) and whenever LGBTQIA+ comes up I have to hide or just sit there and try my best not to cry as my family rips into a community that I am a part of. So it’s always nice to see things like this, where people I look up to talk about something that’s so important to me even though I am always having to bury it away from my parents. It just gives me a sense of security where I can tell myself not to forget that there are millions of people all over the world that are like me, who I can relate to, and who can give advice and comfort to me when I’m having a rough time. It’s just very nice

I learnt a lot more from content creators about LGBTQ+ than my family. My family isn’t homophobic but they don’t really talk about it, so I’m glad I can learn without having to be awkward and ask someone. I found that my school is doing great with supporting LGBTQ+ but we need to greatly improve in discrimination towards mental health and disabilities. There isn’t a single day kids in my class won’t shout out ‘I’m dumb! I have autism!’ Or ‘I have dementia!’ (All of these kids Ik don’t have these things but the way they use it for excuses or to joke isn’t nice, it’s like they think just because you have a mental illness or disorder it means your just bad at things or can’t do anything.) They also say not so nice things about diabetes and depression. My friend announced to their friends they had depression just for one of them to start bullying them.
My grandpa had diabetes and dementia but other people at my school make fun of it when if one of your family members has it’s not funny it’s hard on the whole family and can get into your mind that it’s your fault when it’s not.
I can really relate, especially if your in a grade like 8th or 9th.

And after that, being around everyone just never felt right either, and I had a few crushes at each school I went to -although I first remember thinking ‘ah…. Loved this panel! I do wish that they had more more poc creators, and especially more trans creators (i believe that everyone on the panel is cis, might be wrong through). Having a panel made up of mostly white, gender conforming, cis gay/bi/ace people is hardly representative of the LGBTQ+ community, and feels very sanitised. It could have been a really good opportunity to elevate trans/poc/gender-non-conforming voices, who are the groups who are most impacted by LGBTQ+ oppression. Alas...
..the most impacted? poc lgbt people sure, but gay people are inherently gender non-conforming and gay men are the most statistically discriminated against and hate-crimed in the entire community. diversity is great but some of you need to stop pretending like gay people are "less oppressed" or "safer" rep.. it's probably not intentional, but it reeks of subtle homophobia akin to the same weirdos who go "an ENTIRE month?!" or "okay but stop shoving it in our faces" who just think there's already 'enough' of gay people in media.
i get what you're saying, but it is very hard to organise panels like this, as in trying to find an equal amount of representation would have been impossible with everyone's schedules and time and all the other factors. (also, not to mention that the creators are the ones who suggest and ask for panels, they choose which people will be there more or less.) It would have been nice having more representation, but there are too many other factors involved.

aimsey was supposed to be on the panel but they had passport issues before the confirm date and so had to be replaced to be safe
I do agree though all the people on the panel were already friends so it was way easier to get all of them on board on top of scheduling issues
But yeah it would have been nice for more trans rep

when i was in fourth grade, i remember thinking to myself, “why do i get the same kind of nervous around girls as i do around guys??” almost asked my friends too LMAO. shoved it to the side for a while in favor of internalized homophobia. one year later in 5th grade, got the seggs talk, and felt completely disgusted as to why people would want to “woohoo” and not just hold hands n cuddle. shoved that away again till mid-quarantine, when i started feeling some funky feelings to my best friend, took some quizzes, read some books, then realized i’m biromantic asexual. then the gender crisis happened when ranboo happened soooo

when i was in 8th grade, a girl asked me out and i realized, very suddenly, that actually, i would really like to date her, like really badly. Had my romantic awakening right there. Later found out i was trans and ace but that pan awakening was hard-hitting
Mine wasn’t as eventful. My friend and I were researching a queer women (I don’t remember her name but she played tennis I think) in 5th grade and he asked me if I was apart of the lgbtq+ community and I thought to myself “do I like women.” so I was like hell yeah so I said “I think i’m bisexual” and then that’s where it started. I ended up questioning my sexuality and gender more and more in 6th grade. for now I’m pretty sure that i’m a diromantic lesbian demigirl but i’m still questioning. I like everyone that’s somewhat feminine and/or non binary’s and don’t like anyone pretty much involved with men? Idk but yeah!
My queer awakening happened when I learned that people can be gender non-conforming, and realized that is me. I’m lucky to have a supportive family, so I was able to come out, and at some point I realized *what is my sexuality.*
