Κοίταζα για ώρα το ηλιοβασίλεμα. Is best translated into English:
I “was watching” the sunset for a long time.
-had been watching/looking = past perfect.
-was watching/looking = continuous past.

Thanks for the video. Very useful. Just one problem: if you translate the παρατατικός into English you should sit the past continuous (I was doing/going). This could be confusing when we have to learn the perfect tenses, which also exist in English.
