We'd play football on the weekends and your front line might be 2 blacks guy, 3 Saudis, a few from Thailand, some Mexicans, maybe a few Iranians for good measure. There was NO racial divide, we are all friends. You might have an issue with someone like any other school, but it was NEVER race related. That said, we could get 10 guys together from different points of the planet, razz each other HARD...and laugh. It was NEVER taken personal. These days it would never fly. It was because we rarely used the derogatory terms. There's a difference between being mean and bullshitting with your buddies. I never used the "N" word because I always related it to slavery and it wasn't funny in any context to me. Actually NONE of my black friends use the word, and they hate seeing other blacks use it. They say, and their words, "If thats only "your" word, then get it the fuck out of MY dictionary. But the "jokes" were always usually honest observations of a different culture.
