I just imagine it would have been possibly different if Iosseliani could go to Cannes and join other cineasts to manifest in 1968. This is very fun to just imagine a possible history of cinema.

No way. His film Falling Leaves was selected in 1968. But surely this interview was made in 2000 or even later.
