I took a trip into town today and bought an almost brand new GameBoy Advance SP and a couple of games! Super exited about it. #TheRetroFuture #GameBoy #Nintendo
It would be very ironic if Daniel was a scammer. He plugs his patreon and merch, but not any more than any other CZcamsr and less than many. So if you'd care to explain your comment?
If the price sticker is just on the surface and no surface damage below (if you see no white cardboard from the rip-off below), you can remove the residue with WD40 spray, i use cotton buds, let it soak up a bit and then you can carefully remove it - the Gameboy boxes below usually are not affected from it - otherwise it would soak up the white cardboard underneath...
Hi, my boyfriend just found his old backlit GBA SP. He says he won a contest on a milk carton when he was a kid. He sent in his light blue GBA, told them his favourite colour was green, and that he liked giraffes. They sent him back a light green one with giraffe print stickers and his name on it. He thinks it was done by Nintendo or at least someone professional because it’s all very neat and well done. Any ideas what this contest was and if it was actually done by Nintendo? Is the green a special colour? Thanks
You made me fall in love with the gameboy sp, I ordered a glow in the dark shell from retromodding and I seriously can’t wait! Keep it up with the great videos.
When I was very young and I accidentaly broke my brother's Gameboy Advance SP (he was also young but 7 years older than me) I felt very sorry but luckily you could buy them easily. Now that i'm older I saw it again in a picture and learnt that it was a tribal special edition which now go for €250 - €400. this makes me feel even more sorry and that's why I just bought one, as a sorry for breaking part of his youth and nostalgia.
I also bought one of these recently, it was a tribal version AGS 001 and have now re shelled it and put an ips screen in also. I also have managed to get all pokemon games from a friend and a few other like kingdom hearts chain of memories. Because of you elliot I had something to do during this terrible time we are experiencing atm. I now play my gameboy alot and the nostalgia is amazing. Keep up the videos dude. 👍🏻
super nice display! that's making me want to get boxes for my consoles too - that's a great idea to keep them dust free. i didn't want to display my consoles before for that reason, but now i might...
Love your vids. I collected vintage Nintendo before seeing your videos, but since your adventures are so interesting I recently started a gameboy collection!
Love it! 100 pounds seems like a deal with the games included. SPs here in the states are pricey especially in good condition or with the better screen etc.
Yup awesome price $100/$130(usd) considering their in original boxes and in great condition. In the states I’ve seen countless GBSP for sale roughly in $69/$90(usd) price range for just the unit w/1 game without boxes.
I have a gba sp but it is very scratched up. I bought it off of a freind at school for 10 bucks. I would love to have one in the condition yours is in. Love the vids! Keep doing what you are doing.
A 100 quid is a steal where I am; Dubai. There's a fat chance I'd find an SP, let alone one in such good condition. Nice video, the battery in my black SP ran out a decade ago...good times were had!
Such joy I had as a kid with my Gameboy Advance SP. Still have it and it works, its all scratched up though. But yeah, the game boxes were really not designed to be kept.
Still play my GBC and GBA to this day. Not all the time, but sometimes I like to dig them out and play them a lot while at work or just out and about. Recently I've been playing the Doom and Serious Sam ports. Edit: was surprised to see you picked up Doom! In box too!
Since nintendo has officially created a GC emulator for switch with the release of the new Mario collection, I think future gamecube games will be released via the online store if at all.
Honestly you might get a better picture quality for the the game boy sp with the darker screen if you had a room that was dark for a few seconds love your videos .
Wow this is the gameboy I have and I never knew this was what the packaging was like. I got my first GB at like 3 years old so it makes sense why I don’t remember the unboxing experience lol
Dude you've got the rare Shrek 2 video? I think Shrek 1 is even rarer not sure. Someone near by on Facebook marketplace was selling it in his collections for 50 bucks! Totally should've picked it up!
That blue system looks good! Thats the one I had before I dropped and broke the shell! Had to swap it with another and the plastic doesn't feel good at all
Thank you for letting us into your home. The gameboy bug is something . I can't pass one it seems . have most play it louds 1 yellow 3 reds 1 green 1 black all original. A IPS modded blue custom. . 15 or so working gray DMG. A 10 mixture of other GB platforms. On hunt for DMG blue white and a decent clear to finish set Thanks
in finland its currently hard to find handhelds for under 100euros. most boxed games go for 20euros and up....However that might be without a box. The fact that you were able to get eveything in box and in reasonable condition is a good find for that price.
I remember when I got my gameboy advance sp, I was about 7 and got it for my birthday it was a pearl pink color, that was my very first handheld game system too, had it for almost 5 years until it stopped charging...sadly lost it after it died 😔 BUT! The good news is I got a gameboy advance sp from a buddy of mine. So reliving my childhood has been pretty awesome! 😊😊
Do you (or any experienced viewer here) think it's possible to build a GBA into a WiiU gamepad shell including using the (or a) big screen? I know it wouldn't be as clear as on the small screen, but I fancy that idea since a few weeks now. Love your videos, greetings from germany.
I would say that the pick up was well worth 100 pounds considering that the two games together are worth more than 100. Sonic is worth about 40 and doom (a real cartridge) is about 70-80
I got one for my 5th birthday and literally my favorite present ever, I put so many hours into pokemon on that thing… I’m 20 now and still have it in good condition
I bought an AGS-101 iQue GBA SP back in late Jan of 2020 with a Super Mario Bros 4 game card (JP ver.) at the price of 410 RMB, roughly 58 USD. It's had the normal wear and tear but the screen and buttons are all good. I never knew how good original GBASPs are in terms of build quality, as I had was a knok-off hardware clone GBASP in 2009, that ran both GBA cartridges and roms with a built-in 2Gbit flash (and a USB cable). That one had fricking rigid buttons, a speaker that cannot be completedly turned off and a screen with wrong resolution ratio where a strip of image is not shown at the bottom when compared to the real hardware. And the back-lit screen on the fake one has 5 levels of brightness that virtually has no use at all as some buzzing noise will come out if you turn the brigtness down from the maximum level. The pros of that fake one are the flash storage and a real-time clock in its basic OS. For 11 years I thought the real SPs are of the same quality as the fake one I had. But the real one turned out to be really nice with good & soft buttons, speaker, sharp and bright enough screen and slightly smaller size. Maybe later I will upgrade the SP with type C charging port and a new battery (3.5 hours on the EZ Omega is not engough). Heck, maybe even wireless charging mod. But that will come down to parts availability and prices. Maybe when Analogue Pocket is available again, I will buy that one instead of upgrading the used SP.
My first Gameboy was actually a Mario 20th Aniversary Edition GBA Mirco, JP Ver. that's recommended by a friend who only had OG GBA from 2001. I got the Mirco at the price of 580 RMB (85 USD) with a 128Mbit flashcard in 2008 in first year of my college. It was brand new with box, booklets, charger, pouch and all. The NDS and PSP were already quite popular back then, but I didn't know about them until a year later. But the GBA was the only thing I heard about that I could afford at the price of skimping on other expenses. My second gameboy was the fake GBASP in early 2009 (300RMB/44USD), third one iQue GBASP in Jan, 2020, and fourth one a modded backlit GBC in Feb, 2020 (320 RMB/46 USD). It was your Retro Futer channel and other retro modding youtubers that helped me made up my mind on purchasing more Gameboys 12 years after my initial experience with them. It should be noted that the modding parts and services are cheaper in China, but spending some 100 to 200 USD on modding something two decades old is still not small expense even for an adult. Now that I have GBA Micro, 2 GBA SPs, GBC, NDSL, O3DS, PSP, PS Vita, Switch, it's sometimes hard to invest more on old ones when something like Analogue Pocket and Switch Pro are around the corner. Anyway, enough rambling here. Keep up the good work and I will continue to watch your content. Maybe in 2021 I will change my mind again and mod more of my Gameboys.
Gameboy Advance. I had a purple original GBA, then I had a red SP, and then model you have. Unfortunately the hinge on my completely broke. I now have a modded OG model and a DS Lite for GBA games.
I bought an SP last week, also got a FP V2 IPS, Case swap, and a new battery. Received and assembled everything last night. Case swap ended up better than expected. Got something unexpected with it.
That copy of Doom GBA boxed made me look at my boxed copy right beside Wolfenstein 3D. Oddly enough 90% of my GBA/GB/GBC games I still own the boxes & manuals for
Woah! That really the kind of box the SP was packaged in back then? It's so smol. When my brother got his SP, it came in a much bigger box. Maybe because it was the AGS-101?
I suggest you to try to build electromagnetic protection like a gauss cage al around that room so if something weird happens to the world (because 2020) all of your incredible collection survives.
I'm loving this little system more and more

One of the best gameboys Nintendo ever made, ive just recently picked up a silver SP easily my most played handheld. All the best - Jim
