"Otyken" [O-tu-k`en] is one of the best Russian "modern folk" groups. Their texts are in Khakass, Chulym and Russian languages. Word "Otyken" in Chulym and other Turkic languages means - "a sacred land where warriors would lay down their arms and talk".
Azyan - vocals; Ach - keyboard, throat singing; Kunchari - igil (two string cello); Otamay - komuz (two-three string guitar); Tsveta - vargan (aka mouth harp, jaw harp), drums, komuz, vocals; Maya - drums; Hakaida - bass-drums; Aiko (Muna from this year) - bass guitar.

Haven't heard anything like OTYKEN before, WOW! Their sound is very compelling to me -- everything about this performance really. The vocalizations and the instruments. Plus the attire and, yeah, the location and the weather. "Primal" and "ancestral" -- I agree with those descriptions of how their music hits. Glad to have learned about these very different artists through your channel, YOSC! 😀

😮 they win my award for performance in the most challenging environment 🏆. The drumming reminded me of Kitaro, for some reason. The guitar-like chords reminded me of Black Sabbath . Never thought I'd have those two in the same review 🤔. Definitely different 🙂
