I'm still using the same one I got new in 2010 and it's still working just fine. At some point I did buy a larger battery for it, though nothing was wrong with the original one. I just wanted more time.
You can deinterlace the footage too, actually looks really good through handbrake deinterlace.

Is it best to use an actual memory stick card or use a memory stick adapter for a micro sd card?
Great video!! I'm thinking on buying on of these cameras.. how do you find using DVD not Hi8/MiniDV? is it more practical or easy to transfer to PC?

How did you transfer the files to your computer?
It lets you use a Memory Stick! You transfer the files to your laptop, then convert them from MPG to MP4 on a website converter.

@@pizzi08 read the online manual it helped i literally just had to change the settings! i think its around page 70ish-90ish something around that range cant remember exactly but hope that helps
Did you make this video in HQ, SP or LP mode?
I found out that using LP mode and converting the MPEG to MP4 gives it more of that vintage look that’s seen in this video

So, can you rewrite the disc and use it again and again after you stored the footages in your PC?
There are rewritable mini-DVDs, so you can if you have one. If you're just using a standard mini-DVD, then no.
Can you transfer the video using the USB cable directly to PC?
If you're filming on the memory card, yes.

Nothing, that is just how the Camcorder footage looks, straight out of camera!
you sure? if so thats awesome but ive seen other footage on this camera and its not the case and interlaced footage can occur in the rendering process. just making sure because i love the effect but if its not the camera then i might not get one! regardless great video!
@@steffer4288 the horizontal line effect aka interlacing happens when you covert the video from MPEG movie to MP4. During the conversion process. lol just tried it ! 🙏🏿🙏🏿

Same as me! But I can't find one that is in my country. And have to searching for the mini tapes and batteries too, that I don't have the budget. Watching some guys using Hi8 is super cool! DCR-SR42 is cool too!

@lukahmad5683 I have a sony video8 trv57 and recently bought a sony hi8 tr940 for 25 on ebay it was labeled untested with a dead battery and when I received it everything worked on it the prices on those can be crazy I got lucky even the dead battery works and holds a charge
