- Here’s the BIG one! It’s part 1 of 2 of my transatlantic voyage from Southampton to New York onboard Cunard Queen Mary 2 in June. You’re travelling with me for the duration, experiencing check in, first impressions, my cabin, every meal I have on board (reviewed), including all menus, speciality dining, all activities during the day and evening (sorry about my dancing and singing lol), all the bars (and drinks menus), pools, open decks, afternoon tea,the actual dress codes and themed nights, and exactly what it’s like on a day-to-day basis doing a transatlantic voyage / cruise! What a great watch. I’ve never really considered Cunard as being for us but after watching this I’ve spent the morning proving up trips !! Love the nibbles with drinks, I hadn’t realised that I miss that until now 😂 thanks for taking us along

Oh Jamie - you are so brilliant and enthusiastic - I have been on lots of cruises and was contemplating doing a crossing on the Queen Mary (2)....watching your travel blog has helped me decide I really do want to do it - maybe even there and back ! Your Matthew is a very lucky guy and so are your students. Hope that's not too gushy oh it is a bit - sorry - not sorry !

I really don’t think any ship can beat the feeling of embarking the QM2 at the start of a Transatlantic cruise - it just seems like such an occasion!

This was fab to watch. Can't wait to see part 2. You did look like you were really enjoying it. We also loved the in room dining. It is such a great part of QM2. There is so much of the ship that we still have to see. Your videos are helping with that. Sailing last July with our dog does limit a bit what you can do. But we could not just leave him in the kennels all day. Sailing again in December with our dog also means the same restrictions, but this is how we will be traveling back and forth from now on. So eventually we will get to see it all. Xx

Love QM2 transatlantic. So relaxing. Beautiful ship. I love the chart room. I've stayed in solo cabins which are great being on decks 2 or 3 very quiet, very close to the sea handy for Britannia restaurant theatre queen room etc. I always get the thermal week long pass too. So glad you are enjoying the voyage. I need to book another one. Your videos are always informative and honest.

Jamie... One of the best QM2 videos I have seen!. I've travelled on her many times and you have captured her beautifully and I cannot wait for my next carribean trip . May I ask as you seem to enjoy a tipple, can you get sugar free mixers for instance ginger ale etc. or sugar free cocktails I see they have plenty of sugar free/low sugar desserts. I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and was wondering what I can drink lol. I cannot wait for part 2. Jennie x
Ah thank you so much! Yes, there’s a range of sugar free mixers. Cocktails trickier but just let the bar staff know when need substituting or omitting.
I did a transatlantic years ago on the QE2 I loved it. It felt like a time gone by. Watching you great video I must do one again. Great Video as always 👍

Thank you 🙏 I think dressing up can be a part of a Cunard experience for sure, but I don’t think this is a stuffy experience. Such a mix of nationalities on a transatlantic with so many reasons for people being there. Dressing up isn’t everyone’s main reason, that’s for sure.

You can get a sun rise clock app on your phone to use in the inside cabin..just keep your phone plugged in though as like all apps it can use the juice. The one we use even has a dawn chorus!

Hi Jamie, I think you got slightly mixed up between "Smart Attire" and "relaxed attire" in your comment about jeans. Quoting the sections from the programme for a smart attire night; it reads: "Smart Attire From 6.00pm on board, we request you wear collared shirt and trousers, top and skirt or stylish trousers, or a dress."
But on both gala nights and smart attire nights it then goes on to read: "Of course, if you prefer to spend tonight in more relaxed attire, a selection of casual dining and entertainment venues are available for your enjoyment. Feel free to dress casually as you visit any of the following venues: Kings Court, Golden Lion Pub, Casino, Carinthia Lounge, and G32. Please note that non-ripped jeans are appropriate,".
The bit about non-ripped jeans being acceptable only relates to the specified venues on any night. That's not to say that someone wearing smart jeans will be turned away from other venues on a smart attire night.

@@TravelBlogJamie Maybe someone younger who has been exposed to a lot of American culture. I notice a lot of young Australians, in their 30's and 40's, even pronouncing things in an American way. Had to try to convince my 30-something daughter not to pronounce the name of the flower as 'daaaahlia' instead of the correct English/Australian pronunciation of 'daylia' (dahlia). Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your braces! I"m sure they looked very smart. I thought your super-relaxed vibe on board QM2 perfectly matched my feeling when I'm on board a Cunard ship (usually QE for me); just perfect lovely relaxation but also so much to do on board. And I have to admit your stupid duck lips, Pringle talking makes me laugh out loud every time (against my better judgement!). x
@13:36 I had to pause and deep breathe....... as a hotel manager for 26 years I would die of shame if mt dining room set up was this shabby it may sound petty but the chairs are allover the place Eveeything should be laid with military possition cullyery glasses etc should all be identically placed and the chairs the exa t same distance from table. Even brewers fayre does a better job. #Shocked #VeryVeryPoor #NotGood
It sounds petty and picky but I have been in the trade soooo long I would literally of locked the doors of my restaurant until it was presented tip top perfection. You should always let guests expect the best and then exceed there expectations. That comes to presentation music levels lighting temperature etc. I have trained at least 3 of my dormer staff who went on to sail on this ship and I think they would agree this ain't perfection baby
