  • I know I don't need more watercolour but this was on sale and I thought someday when we can all travel again it would come in super handy if I'm away for a longer time. Basically I don't want to spend another winter in Canada! No I'm not retirement age but we can both work from anywhere. Sure I have travel palettes that will do but if I'm actually working I want a bit more. Yes I am trying to justify it!
I'll leave an affiliate link here to where you can get it on Jackson's. They are a little difficult to find here in N. America in a set this large. If you're in the States you might want to try Blick's (only a set of 24 or less).

I have the same box.. and the intensity of colours is really weak. Its so sad.. and it was waste of money.. but their tubes paints are fantastic. VANGOGH s cubes and tubes both are great. In this video I can see the same struggle I went through to get the wow moment once the brush touches the paper.

Oh that's such a shame! I am pretty happy with them, though. It was a go-to palette for quite a while. I have only switched lately because I want to give my other watercolours a fair go.

Can you compare Rembrandt to Schmincke watercolor paints in pans? I am wondering which is better to purchase since I found them online in a similar price :)

I won't be able to do a video in time for you to cash in on a sale but in my opinion they are both great. Of course Schmincke has many professional artists who rave about them. I haven't checked against both for lightfastness with like vs like so that may be something to check first. Find a colour chart online and also look at the range of colours and how they compare to what work you like to do. I tend to use my Schmincke palette for outdoor and architectural work but then I've customised it. I do find their colours slightly more muted and more natural than other brands. They also have a great range of greens that I use a lot including their super granulating colours (only in tube form but can be poured into pans). But really since buying that Rembrandt palette they have been my go-to watercolours. Both are easy to re-wet so that's not an issue either. And at the end of the day you can mix and match and buy colours from all the brands that suit you and your work and put them together into your own custom palette. Hope that helps!

@@eileenreillyarts1229 Thanks, that’s been helpful! 😊 Do you think a set of 24 or 36 is better for a beginner?

@@adriannamarszal I've just put up a video where I turned my 24 Schmincke set into a 39. I would start with a 24 and add to it later like I did once you get to know what you use the most or new likes.

Hi Nadine! I guess there’s no real point. A lot of people just want to see sets swatched out before they buy them. Oh I guess that’s a point right there. There are many videos on the same set so maybe you’ll enjoy those more. Or maybe you won’t and that’s ok. What’s not ok is a nasty comment on a site that you don’t pay for and that’s about a topic that should be fun. And I’m saying that for the rest of the people who are brave enough to put themselves out there and especially to those who really work hard at their channel. This response is for them. I’m a tough cookie after years of verbal abuse as a child and even as an adult. I’m not pretending to do a public service announcement or anything else important. It’s just that I like art and art supplies, always have (even got an MA in art history and studio). The best thing that you can do is stop watching a video you don’t like. Then neither of our time is wasted. Simple solution. And just try to be nice. We all have enough in our lives to get upset about and art supplies shouldn’t be one of them. I don’t mind constructive criticism or suggestions so please anyone else reading this feel free to offer suggestions but please do t be mean for mean’s sake. Life is too short. And I should know as I’ve had my heart restarted 3 times. Enjoy life rather than look for things to get upset about. Channel that energy into something that matters
