How to change Filter & Oil in Can am 400 Outlander Max

I know this video is old but I have the same 400 Can Am. The 2006 is the last year with a choke and mine is so hard to start when it is cold. I can choke it fully and still it takes a full minute to start. Yours started right up. Is that the case with your when cold that it starts right up when choked?

Depends on how cold it was outside. A cold start in the summer was pretty good maybe 10 to 15 seconds. A cold start in the winter when it was near 32 f or 0 Celsius it took around 30 seconds or so to start and sometimes you wondered if the battery would last long enough to start it but it always started. If it is taking a minute to start maybe your choke cable has to be adjusted to fully close the choke flap.

How is the pull start on the 400 I have the same and have never gotten it started but the pull start feels like your gonna break your back?

Hi guys, I have a 05 Bombardier the trick is with the pull start is you FIRST VERY SLOWLY pull the string past the 1st cylinder, you'll feel it, then you can pull start it like a lawnmower from there.
Now if it is in the down position (basically free pulling) you have to pull in and out and eventually the cylinders line back up like you need them to for a pull start. Hope that helps.

Where do you buy your Bombardier oil filters? Are there any after market filters that would work in the 400?

Hi-Tech Power Sports is the dealer here in Moncton and that is where I get my OEM parts. K&N states that they have oil filters. I have K&N air filters on my 400 and 800 and have no issues with them so I can only assume their oil filters are fine to use
