Thanks for watching - Please subscribe!
The next 3 habits in the 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey, move you from being independent to being interdependent. Interdependence is the highest level level of what stephen covey calls the maturity continuum. The maturity continuum consists of 3 levels.. dependence, independence, and interdependence.
Dependency is like the relationship between a child and mother, or even sometimes between a boss and employee (if the employee lacks their own inner strength, values, and purpose). It's the attitude of you.
To move from dependence to independence, you have to nail the first 3 habits - be proactive, begin with the end in mind, and put first things first.. This is the attitude of I. Most people think independence is where it's at.. they think it's the highest level, but in fact, interdependence is the highest level...
    1 - be proactive
2 - begin with the end in mind
3 - put first things first
    4 - think win win
5 - seek first to understand then to be understood
    6 - synergy
    7 - sharpen the saw

The principal of my high school used to talk about every habit in this book every week. I feel interested. I read the book. After around 7 years, I am amazed by the fact that the knowledge has merged into my mind.

Let's actually do something about it! We should make a social movement on what should be included in the elementary curriculum of our kids!

@@wisdom-for-life They are beginning to show up in elementary schools. I am an educator in Illinois. I just heard about a program that teaches these habits. The title of the book is, "The Leader in Me" by Stephen R Covey for educators in primary schools. It's taken a while but hopefully we can get this information to the youngest students in each state. The earlier in life kids know how to use these habits the more successful they will feel in life. I enjoyed your videos. You did a great job explaining the habits.

So we have over a million viewers on The 7 habits of Highly effective people part 1 and 298k viewers of part 2. This tells us that most of these people will complain about the 7 habits summary being incomplete because they didn't watch the second part they lacked pro-activeness. They didn't begin with the end in mind which is why they lacked the determination to finish the summary and learn more. Let's say, most people haven't mastered the 7 habits yet :)

Well I don't really think you need to "master" the seven habits, you can just pick anyone of them as long as they manage to stick, it's a habit after all not something like a law that everyone must strictly abide. In the last vid anyway, it seems more based on helping yourself, rather than this video which is mostly about helping other people, maybe they're just finding a way to help themselves first before choosing to help other people.

I found this book/talk to be very supportive to the way I think. I have read Covey's book, support his approach , and have been practicing application in my life. Based upon my experience, my mentors, and my fellow associates I have come to believe we are all where we are today because of the habits in our life, the decisions in our life, and the people in our life, All directly related. I wanted to recommend the book to someone, and I saw other summaries, but some of the key messages that I took out of the book were missing in their summaries. This one really did a great job.
    Some small improvements would've been:
    1) saying the circle of concern contains both things you have control over and things you don't (you said just the things you don't have control over) and maybe saying proactive ppl expand their circle of influence the more they are proactive, and reactive ppl shrink it.
    2) Differentiating between win-lose and lose-win. Lose-win is like a mother that always prioritizes her children, while nice, it will hurt her in the long run and hence affect her children. She should care for herself every now and then
other than that I think you did a great job!
