It's interesting how humans have learned to thrive in the desert. This Interstate goes through all kinds of terrain, swamps, desert, mountains, plains, an engineering feat.
I'm one of the many people from Tucson, but I also remember I've been to Phoenix when I was a kid. That was fun.

Been down this stretch of I-10 many times in my life so far.
From a whole lotta nothin' to a whole lotta somethin'. AZDot should have built that stretch south of Phoenix up to six lanes some time ago. Looks like they're trying to catch up with that bridge. The 'Phoenix bypass' is a somewhat upgraded AZ 84 and US 80 (now I-8 and AZ 85) I-19 was US 89. US 70 now ends at US 60 at Globe; 60 itself ends at I-10 east of Quartzsite. None of those cross-country roads of yesteryear (US 60, 70 or 80) make it to California. Thanks, Caltrans.
