My personal favorite was where he started cracking the hbox code (where hardly anyone was beating him) and of all characters, it was captain falcon who, at the time, was considered to lose heavily [kuz ledge stalling had no limit iirc.] His pop off wasn't at the end of the set tho. It was that event where wizzy starts slamming his hand on the chair hyping himself up for even a game win.

Yeah that was insane. People mostly don’t remember but M2K had one of the most dominant records of any P2P of players in the top 5 probably in Melee history over Leffen.

And people say Melee is a solved game. Not even close, Melee will never be solved. Everyone was doubtful of aMSa winning a major with Yoshi and he went on to win the biggest tournament in Melee history. It still hypes me up whenever I see that clip lol

M2k Vs Shiz Will always be my favorite moment. Nothing beats that crowd and commentator reaction. Not to mention Melee was going through a bit of a slump at the time. That match was really important to revitalize everyone’s Melee spirit.

Im guessing you are referring to Emplemons video. It is amazing. Hboxs story is amazing. And the best part is its just one of many. I highly highly recommend these 2 videos "Mango the musical" by GRtr4sh and "Melees greatest underdog story" by RESPIRIT. There's so much history to Melee, I've spent legitimate months learning it and it continues to this day.
The Armada meditation is just amazing. Another great Armada moment this video could've had was his win against hbox at smash summit 6, his most emotional pop off ever.
I think his most emotional popoff would be the doubles comeback against ice and leffen but that's a definite close 2nd

@@NemesisCOD It really does, the legendary PPMD return, Bizzaro Flame vs Eikelman, Leffen vs Chillin, and then Mango vs Leffen for one-thousand dollars, then the doubles. It was the best tournament that almost didn't happen at all.

Okay I’m newer to melee. That wombo combo has blessed my ears for a very long time. It’s a classic. The audio is legendary. I’m not saying I fully understand the combo, but it ended with a knee?? That is just crazy man I got up from my bed like it was the first time I watched it
That's awesome, glad you found this video. I recommend joining the Melee Online Discord for any questions Google can't answer. It was so hype bc no one had EVER done teams combos like that, they would all just grab and pummel. It's also so hype, that the term Wombo Combo is still widely used today. So when they pulled this off it was nothing short of historic. it's just extra rare that a team actually spaces and works together so well. it's not a combo that exists, like it can be practiced

I love that Armada (at least from what I've seen in all these compilations) is one of the coolest players about losing matches and doesn't seem to pop off a lot when he wins. Super chill from what I've seen. Love to see that kind of attitude

i might be bias since i was there in the flesh, but the gtx 2017 set of hbox taking armada to game 10 in grands then winning from loser's was among my favorites.
Wizzys popoff, to me, has to be the best popoff in melee history thus far. If he extended it by a few frames, it could never be touched.
I'm not a smash player, but to me it seemed like hungrybox was absolutely destroying him and just one slip up and wizz took advantage, but other than that all he did was try and avoid, he just got a good opportunity

I am not by any means a fan of Smash, but this video was on my recommended. Having friends who are in the Smash pro scene in my state, I know of HBox. Seeing him break down and cry after beating Armada will never not make me cry, bro. Hard work and perseverance really pay off sometimes.
Just so you know hbox does something like that every other win, it's not really hype as much as it is scripted
